Good riddance. Him being made a middle east peace envoy is laughable. He has totally compromised himself and can't possibly be viewed as an impartial arbiter of justice and fairness.

Care to clarify your points?

What about his work in Northern Ireland?

His stance on Iraq and his unflinching endorsement of Bush policy undoes every single good thing he ever did.

It was Brown that was responsible for your economic prosperity by the way.

I am looking forward to see how Gordon Brown fares as a Prime Minister.  I hope, and think he can lead us to be a more independent nation in terms of following America to war for example.  I feel that was one of Blair's biggest failings and had he not done so I would have viewed him as a very decent Prime Minister.

Edit:  Typo (I called Mr Brown Gordon Blair )

well if they still hold a grudge against tony, their not going to have much luck getting on with each other are they? he's no worse a peace envoy than say ehud olmert or ismail haniyeh.

I'm hopeful that Brown will actually be quite good. He might be a boring miserable sod, but he's no crusader - which was Blair's biggest fault. He's managed the economy well for the past decade and although everyone complains that he's raised taxes a bit - he a fucking labour chancellor, not a fucking tory, that's his job!

Actually no, the majority of us don't, it was Blair that appeared to enjoy it.

Plus points.
He sorted out Northern Ireland.
With brown created a booming strong economy.
His enthusiasm (or acting skills) gave the country a badly needed lift after the Tory years and the Thatcher Hangover.

Negative points.
That economy depends too much on playing ball with the USA and ties any future government, Tory or labour to toeing the USA line.
Along with that cunt Alister Campbell degrade British political life, turning British politics into a spin culture instead of a policy lead one.
Carrying on the Tories privatisation of everything with such vigour you could be forgiven for thinking he is a Tory himself.
Iraqi will be Blair's legacy, he knows it as well as anyone. He was so keen to suck up the the new US president he would have most likely swallowed any bullshit thrown at him. Now he has the blood of thousands on his hands.

BTW, he will never work as a middle eastern envoy. He was the only leader bar Bush to not denounce Israelis heavy handedness in the Lebanese war(even though his country was crying out for him to do so), and he is Seen now as being Israel friendly. So how can he be an impartial envoy. Basically he's as far from a socialist prime minister as you could get, even though that was the ticket he was elected on.

To quote Neil Kinock who said it all; "what is a Labour prime minister doing with Bush?"

Browns early move to get rid of the Spin Doctors (well, stop them giving orders to civil servants) - is a great idea. I hated Blair and New Labour spin on everything.
