He joined America in the invasion of Iraq. He supported Israel during the Lebanon war. Now he resigned as PM and his new role will be as a Middle East envoy. His new task will be tough. He needs to be perceived by Arabs as a neutral negotiator. Will Tony Blair achieve peace in the Middle East? Will Arabs trust him?

no
I'm not sure. That's a hard prediction to make. But, in any case, not without help from others.
"hi, um you may remember me. my names tony blair and i started a war on you several years ago. thats all just history now as i'm here to try to fix the problems that my actions directly or indirectly caused. would you take me to your leader please. *armed person nods and starts walking off behind a building gesturing blair to follow him* oh ok then you'll take me straight to him then, thank you. oh shit *gunshot rings out and the thump of falling bodies is heard*
"finally some vengence for those years of pain he gave us"

No because realistically speaking the task is impossible. I think the Onion headline put it best: " 'Middle East Crisis' to be renamed 'Middle East Culture' "
Unfortunately, that's going to happen in that region no matter who is in that position.daffytag wrote:

Even if he were the man for the job, which he most definitely is not, most Arabs would not trust him, and with good reason. And of course he was appointed the task because there is no intention of solving the ME crisis.

its not really a crisis if its lasted 60 years without getting worse with an unpleasant finality or better.
lets face it if they can't be civil to tony, it speaks volumes for our chances of achieving anything in terms of a resolution.

no, because the middle east is compsed largely of factions that will not be appeased until the others cease to exist, and therefore appeasing them all means destroying them all, which appeases no one...
therefore, the middle east is a paradox that cannot be solved.
