Hm....
PC specs -
E6600 2.40GHz @ 3.00GHz ( 1333MHz FSB, 1.40V - settings Overclockers gave me )
P5N-E SLI
8800GTS 640MB OC'ed
OCZ 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM PC6400 RAM
Arctic Pro Cooler 7 CPU.

I know the vcore voltage is very high for a slight overclock to 3.00GHz, but its running stable - not like when I try some settings.
I have tried
1433MHz - 1.35V = BSODS, instability.
1500MHz - 1.39, 1.4V = BSODS on CPU load.
1533MHz - 1.4V = BSODS on CPU load.

Anything else will restart my system or crash it instantly.

What is wrong? Anything above 3.00GHz my computer dislikes. When the recommended OC'ing for the E6600 are from 3.2-3.8GHz.

Nothing seems to be working for me.... I want to get the RAM ( 800MHz ) and FSB on a 1:1 ratio ( 1600MHz ) so my computer can perform 100%, I also want to OC my CPU a bit more because it's the weakest component of the lot.

You may want to try increasing the NB voltage just a bit.  Also make sure that you have your PCI and PCI-e speeds locked.

You may also just have a piece of hardware that has hit its limit.

PCI-E to 100MHz would be better.

I assume you've read a few guides on what you're doing? Read this one, it works pretty well for most chipsets, and it should help you figure out if there is something you've forgotten to do.

EDIT: You've upped the NB and SB voltage yes? Actually, just read the guide.

It's already at that.

Ghetto....my BIOS settings don't allow me to do half of what it is asking me to do. I can't change the vFSB, vICH or the vMCH on my BIOS.

Well, I have just researched my mobos specs with OC'ing an E6600 and people cannot get it past 3.2GHz. It's physically impossible with the P5N-E SLI. Unless you have watercooling on your NB and your CPU then you cannot get past 3.2GHz.

This blows.

Is it the Nvidia 590 chipset? If it is I heard it fails on OC.

P5N-E SLI = 650i

Which OCs very well in my experience.

650i, I think.

Well, with the E6600 and the P5N-E it doesn't go well together. People seem to be having problem OC'ing with that.

I've OC'd a 6600 on a P5N-E SLI with 4GB of Geil PC6400. It mostly went well, but the RAM had issues at higher frequencies - Asus boards and lots of RAM can be a bitch.

How far did you OC it to? It seems to get unstable after 1500MHz FSB.

Sorry to drag this OT, but what's the difference between a 1066 FSB and the one people usually talk about when discussing FSB's, the one that on C2D is 266Mhz at stock. Is there a name for it or something? The one Zim is using is stock at 266Mhz and so then 1500Mhz would be a (normal in my mind) FSB of 434Mhz yes? At least, that's how I thought it went, but 434*9=3.9Ghz, which is a lot higher than Zim has it. I'm kinda rambling here, and missing something obvious, but someone, probably Bert, explain?

EDIT: It's quad boosted or something isn't it?

EDIT pt2: I think I see what I mean now. 1500/4=375 which would be the FSB I'm used to using yes? And the P5N-E SLi talks about it in terms of total FSB, not the original.

It is Quad pumped (QDR).

You are quite right ghetto.

@ Zimmer, I can't remember how far I OCd it. I just remember it going quite smoothly. I do quite a lot of these.

Seriously, just sell the system ;/

- DVD-RW not working;
- Won't overclock;
- RAM errors;
- Lots of BSODs.

I have it running at 1333MHz very nicely. Just that if I go above that, the computer decides to take a shit on my face.

Bah, I have no time to look more into this right now. After all, I wont be here for 5 weeks - Going to Spain.

What BIos are you on.

THey say 0401 is the best for OC

I have seen E6600 hit 5 gig on P5N-E
Are you having lots of BSOD?

Move ram to black slots and slow them down to 5-5-5-15
Worked for me and it is stable.

For 5 weeks!? No Zimmer for 5 weeks will guarantee every forum user 'Zimmeritis' (lack of Zimmer. symptons include yelling, moaning, screaming and on extreme cases, searching for zimmer in spain)

DVD-RW working, read my edited post in that topic.
RAM is perfect.
No BSODS unless I try to overclock above 1500MHz FSB. The system is perfectly stable at 3.00GHz.
My GFX is perfect, my RAM is perfect, the case is perfect, the cooling is perfect and the PSU is perfect. As for the CPU, that is another matter - I don't know if it's just the blend between the 2 components ( mobo and CPU ) that it just dislikes.
Oh yeah, and mobo is perfect.

Latest version of BIOS.

Is it not bad to go back a few BIOSes? I thought you should always keep it updated.

0401 is not the latest.  Few months old

The latest bios they have release really do not do anything.  I think they have 3 different betas out.

Go to the link.  Lots of good info on this board

And that means?

I will try the older BIOS... If it fucks up...well, it fucks up.
