Two G5 mice?

I was looking around for the G5 mice and apparently there are 2. There is this one

the 1st one is more expensive and has a faster USB report rate, but is also more expensive. Is the faster USB rate really worth the extra money? or which one would you choose?

They just look different - I peronally think the more expensive one is uglier.

I have both (my old G5 died). The difference is that the first one has 2 thumb buttons and a better non-slip surface

Dude... get a Razer. I have the DeathAdder and it's Amazing. I was worried about getting a corded mouse, but man, it is perfect.

Oh, and it has a 1000Hz polling rate and 1800DPI Resolution. Razer ftw!

I use the second G5 you have listed. The only reason for getting the more expensive one is it is a bf2142 limited edition.

The only difference between the 2 are the thumb buttons.

The second cheaper one is the old version and only has a single thumb button, the second one is the new version with a second thumb button. Besides that I believe they are the same, I have the old one only because it was the only one out at the time but now mite get the newer one... always wanted a quick "pull out the knife" button.

With my old g5 it only had one side thumb button, that failed, epicly, get the more expensive one for better poll rate and the extremely good advantage of 2 buttons over one. it makes a difference

I also have a Razer and like it a lot for gaming.
Its very accurate and with on-the-fly sensitivity adjustments its great for going from infantry to vehicles (mostly aircraft).
The extra buttons come in handy. I use the wheel button to bring up the large map (very helpful when enemy is spotted), one of the side buttons for VOIP and the other side button for view change (helpful when flying). The other buttons are used to adjust the sensitivity.

People who fly with me or against me in the heli often ask me what joystick I use. No joystick its a Razer!

fighting over mice is pointless, they are almost all near-perfect.
Personally I like the MX-518.
and anyone that says they can tell the difference between 1600 and 2000 dpi is lying.

I still have my old G5, but wanted the 2nd thumb button. The no-slip surface IS a big advantage, as my older copper G5 lost it's surface finish and became quite slippery over time. By the way, the copper G5 used to retail for what the new one does now. Either are a very good investment if you want and edge in your gameplay.

I sit on a couch with a laptop and nice metal mouse pad with my G5 (the first one up their). It being corded really doesnt matter, even under my conditions. I love this mouse...the adjustable sensitivity and weight make it perfect for me.
