A follow up to my other topic.

You are still bestowed with God like powers, but you are informed by the geezer in charge of Gods that you must make one species of creature on Earth completely extint, but it must benefit the planet. Remember cause & effect, if a species goes, it will have a knock on effect, either positively, or negatively, due to food chains, habitat, etc.

Pick a species, a reason why it should become extinct, and what you think would happen as an after-effect.

mosquitoes, they annoy the shit outta me and can carry a terrible disease. I'm sure birds can eat other insects, so the knock on would be rather minimal (i hope)
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Giant Panda.

Reason: Almost extinct now.

After Effect: Not a lot, since there pretty much extint the worst that could happen is a few zoo-keepers end up job hunting and a few bamboo plants get overgrown

This is the answer is was hoping somebody would post, with the correct reason.

The only species on the planet which does not positively contribute is mankind.  Removal of mankind would not affect other species in a diet way, as we have no natural predators.  Animals in various forms that we eat, can thrive in the wild, thats where they've lived for millions of years.

Natural resources would be saved, allowing the planet to effectively regenerate, making it better for other species.

I wouldn't be able to ban anyone after that though.

...the only foreseeable downfall.

ThomasM, if it were you making man extinct, would you not be banning people from live, for life?  Kinda poetic, I think.

Terrorists, extinct this specie would help out the world allot.

- No more billions of dollars/euros spending on anti-terrorist military operations, which leaves the money to be spend on better things like Helping
Africa or closer to home: Health care/schools/etc.

- No more fear under the normal civilisation for an terrorist attack, people will feel free to travel,  take the bus and visit festivals without the fear of
  an terrorist attack.

True.

Actually, after thinking about this...I think it would be really interesting to see what would happen if all of a sudden man just disappeared entirely.  Like...leave all of our cities how they are...leave everything.  Just remove every single human being on earth.  It'd be cool to see how everything degraded, broke down, and how the environment grew into our cities after 10, 50, 100, 1000 years.

Is a terrorist actually recognised as a different species to the rest of man?

You know those old houses with the vines and creepers that have grown all  (maybe a little exaggerated) over them? Imagine that with skyscrapers... That would look awesome.
