Infact, you get pings in the 500+ range, which is not good for playing BF2.

Currently, my sister uses Limewire. However, recently I downloaded another file using BitComet, and noticed that whilst playing BF2, my ping did not change.

So, I assumed that the high ping is something to do with Limewire....

So, what downloading software do you use to download files with, that allows you to download, and to play BF2, or how can I set up my network/ sisters computer, to lower the pings.

Ok well basicaly, you have a limit given to you by your ISP. We will pretend its 3mb download and 1mb upload. This means, at any time, you can only download at a speed of 3mb per second, or upload at a speed of 1mb per second. So, when your sister uses limewire, which requires you to also upload, you are using up a lot of your upload bandwidth.. Now bitcomit may not require you to upload untill your done with the torrent. When your sister uses up too much of your upload bandwidth, this makes a shittier connection to the gaming server, which results in a high ping because not as much information can be transfered to the server per second.
Now, you need to go to your sisters limewire and make it so she doesnt seed her downloads back, which will free up your upload bandwidth, thus likely lowering your ping.

Remember, its the upload that kills your ping. So when your just downloading mildly, you wont feel the effects as much. This all really depends on the speed your isp gives you, if you have a 30mb download and a 20mb upload, you'll never feel it lol, but something like that would cost a ton of money.

Tell her to stop downloading shit, or get one of those gaming routers which prioritize packets from games.

if you having limeiwre downloading something and playing at the same time, you will lag like shit because limewire will steal a lot of bandwith

yeah, limewire is from one comp to another, no dedicated server in between so it takes more time and bandwidth to download any files
