Ok, so I just recently bought my alieware, I installed my correct 32bit vista nvidia driver etc etc. But recently there has been a crapload of yellow veritcle lines running down any part of white on my screen.

IF THERE IS ANY WHITE, THERE ARE YELLOW LINES.... WTF??? did i just honestly pay $3600 for a complete piece of sh!t?!?!?! or could it just be my shitty monitor. anyone have any ideas on fixing this?

That sounds like a hardware problem, and my guess is that it might be your monitor or graphics card (I'm thinking monitor).  Have you connected another monitor up to the computer?

Also,  I'm assuming you are in touch with Alienware / Dell tech support?

oh yes yes orangehound. i'll try hooking up another monitor, i have another one lying somewhere in the dusty basement. as far as talking to alienware support yeah. they helped me find the correct driver (32bit and they provided some common knowledge on why games would need to be reinstalled after installing the driver - i was having issues with all my games)

alright thanks guys, i'll try another monitor and if that doesn't work. then i am really screwed

I got strange red lines appearing on my screen once, only small and they would appear vertical on the righ hand side on any color. I was able to get a replacement monitor from Dell, but got the problem again, then it disappeared so I dunno.

its an LCD, 22+ inches made by lenovo. its not a great monitor to go with an amazing computer, but hey it does the job. in my opinion its too big makes bf2 a problem because it actually feels like i am in the game making my thought process a bit more confusing. i would prefer like a 20inch.

anyways yeah its an LCD, is it most likely the graphics card or do you think it could be the monitor? (PLEASE BE THE MONITOR)

but what doesn't make sense is the first time i fired it up (before i installed my 32bit driver NVIDIA Vista) it was running at 1024x760 or whatever resolution (so the icons were HUGE). and during that time, there were no yellow lines for the first day. then the 2nd day, it just appeared, and i installed the new driver and its still there. could it be the graphics card took a fat shit over night or the monitor is just truly a piece?

Why don't you go and test the other monitor on it?

Then we'll know!

And what EXACT driver did you install?

i would change monitors, but i am at work.

the driver i downloaded was the 32bit NVIDIA Windows Vista Driver. You can find it by just googling it. (by the way... you can google everythinggggg)

I had a similar issue, though much worse, and it proved to be dust on the graphics card..

If its pretty much brand new then thats not going to be the problem.

There's more than just one driver for 32 bit Vista.

And your sig is too big me thinks.

There was a driver version that had a problem with "yellow all over" with the 8800s.

Try getting a different driver... or getting an old one or something.

Don't assume it is hardware, it might not be. (Check your cables too, make sure they fit right, switch to VGA from DVI or vice versa.)

don't alienwares come with a cd to revert back to how it left their factory?
Or did you not buy that upgrade?

yeah ok sooo... i decided to test my motherboard, and it said it was posting by signaling double zeros, and yet it wasn't posting shit. it didn't read my mouse half the time and eventually just stopped posting an image to my already shit monitor. so i sent it back to alienware, thanks for all help guys.

Get a refund and go build a system yourself.

Alienware = bad.
