Just installed my BF series, Bf2, EU, SF, AF and PR, patching to 1.41 inbetween each. However, in any givin round, i am experiencing a total freeze, whereby i can't even tab, or ctl-alt-del out of it, i have to restart my PC. Any ideas?

um i can only give you common knowledge i guess, i am not a big computer guy but definitley try downloading some new and proper drivers, check if your computer can even handle the amount of power it requires to run bf2, how much ram you got, such and such.

give me more details on your computer

well the pc im on now is def better than my last one, and that all ran fine, this is a dual core jobby, so it should be enough.What drivers you recommend, graphics/sound etc?

mbay your graphic card drivers... go on your video card web site and dwl them ... or just write in google : Nvidia 7600GT Drivers (example) and dwl them !

But be shure you don't dwl old shit.. that's why if you can find them on the site of the company who made the card you would be shure its the newest shit available

yeah it seems most definitley like a video card or graphics issue. if you aren't looking to spend like 600 plus bucks on the newest GeForce, thats understandable. just go with a GeForce 7 series and update your graphics driver with whatever brand you have. Say you have GeForce, check the GeForce website and download the correct one, lets say GeForce 7700 Windows XP 32bit (so you download that same one if thats yours and see if its any better).

If the freezing continues, check the amount of ram you got, ram is cheap and easily upgradable so that wouldn't be too hard. good luck man, i hate having computer issues, i just bought the top of the line alienware and i had to send it back because they gave me a bad Mobo.

what's your cpu model? because I had the same problem and changing a setting in the Bios for the cpu fixed it. and mine is also dual core (it never did it before with my single core cpu)

yea, I got the same model Intel D, 3,0ghz. Anyways you have to go into your bios and change a setting for your cpu, I dont remember which one but there shouldn't be a lot of them.

Anyways I'll go see what it is and come back in about 5min and tell you.

Edit: dammit, I hate my keyboard (G15) because it activates too late and I can't get into the bios, I need to plus a ps/2 keyboard to get in it, and I'm not sure where I put it. might try and find it later.

LMAO! There is no GeForce 7700. Only 7100, 7300, 7600, 7800 and 7900/7950.

Ontopic:

Re-install DirectX (Go to Windows Update, should be in the start menu) or from the BF2 DVD. And get your specs in the thread! Go to Run and type 'dxdiag'. If you don't get what to write, just take a screenshot. Re-patch BF2. That usually works for most issues. And do you get a black screen on any other 3D apps?

P.S. It's Intel Pentium D, dual-core, not 'two of them'
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Up the voltage to ur ram dude..

Mod:  technical experts on BF2s DO NOT recommend that you do this.

my bad, i was under the knowledge that there was one. my mistake. i have a geforce 8800 gtx, so i figured they would just make the numbers somewhat similar. once again, my bad

Oddly enough. I have this problem. With 2 different cards (6660 & 7600GS), only thing i haven't tried out yet is getting a new PSU. Although my computer can run other intensive games like HL2/Insurgency with no freezing or anything.

I'm chalking it down the PSU and general BF2 gheyness. When i get a new PSU i'll report back if it worked.

I'll only happens on BF2, no other games.

Hi Ted. After reading through this thread, I have to say most (not all!) of the advice here is pretty awful. Upping voltages of RAM, video cards that don't exist.. haven't seen anything like this in a while!

Anyway, it seems to be an issue more common than you think. If you could answer the following questions so that I can determine what the problem might actually be:

- has this problem ever occured before on your old system (even once or twice)? ;
- have you experienced a crash like this in other games? ;
- have you tried another CPU (assumed by title that you bought a new CPU)?

If you could give your system specifications I'll maybe take a look at some things you should consider downloading (drivers, software etc). Just go to "start", and then in the "run" box type "dxdiag" (if you need any help, just give me a message on MSN!)

Thanks,
Kyle.

From badhq's post #9 here: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=32100

1. If running a Dual Core processor, load up Battlefield 2, press alt-tab to go to your desktop. Open up task Manger by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL Once! Then right click on BF2.exe and set its Affinity to 0, Basically this tells it to use only processor 0, not 0 and 1.

Likely item 1 or an underpowered PSU.

It can be your Anti-Virius, Firewall, or Spyware software. I have issues with both. I have open the ports for BF2 in my software firewall. plus on my router, disabled my Anti-Viruis, BF2 has like five processes running....memory.dll is one of em. Those processes have trusted rights in my A/V software. You may want to keep this in cosideration

My AV (ZoneAlarm by CheckPoint) was definately annoying when the maps are loading....fricking scanning the maps while they load/ uncompressed

This works like a charm, problems solved.Cheers for the advice everyone. O, and kylie, this isnt a new CPU, it's a whole new PC, bought it to upgrade it. Next step is at least 1gb more ram (It only came with 1gb )
