I tried everything in the book to stop the lagging, I cleaned a whole bunch of shit with CCleaner, I turned off the Windows Firewall while playing, I uninstalled games and shit I don't use, I defragmented the hard-drive, I overclocked my video card a little bit, I scanned for spyware, i've spent over 250$ in upgrades on an OEM computer.

Basically I have"

A 2.2GHz Pentium 4
A Radeon X1650PRO 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4x
2GB RAM (not DDR2 and not dual channel)
ATA100 7200RPM 107GB Hard Drive
Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic
Comcast Cable internet

[angry babbling]I can't steadily play BF2 with over 20FPS, it is not possible, not at all. I have in fact played BF2 with this much lag for a year and a half and i'm FUCKING TIRED OF IT. When you have played it this long, it becomes impossible to even imagine BF2 with smooth framerates, I try to imagine above 20 FPS but all I see is heavy choppiness. No joke, 110% serious. I wonder what it is like to not lag as I type this but I have not a clue. I'm sure it's undescribable (or would be), but I don't know at all.[/angry babbling]

So I ask you all: WHAT THE FUCK DO I NEED TO DO TO GET RID OF ALL THIS GOD DAMN FUCKING LAG

There's a part of your problem, the other is the 4x AGP. 8x would be better, PCIe would be more so.

The motherboard doesn't support DDR2 or dual channel RAM and the AGP slot is only version 2.0, which means it is limited to only 4x bus speed and lower. The motherboard is OEM.

As for buying, you really don't have a choice. Look for a motherboard, even discontinued, that works with what you have and has dual channel and 8x AGP. Then search E-Bay, I bet you can get one for less than $50 or maybe even cheaper. That should help reduce the lag significantly.

I heard somewhere that the AGP bus speed has little effect on the performance, although I guess this computer is proving otherwise. My dad won't let me get a new motherboard because he's an idiot and thinks that it would be better to just buy a new OEM computer if I did that. And everything I order would have to be through him because I don't have a fucking credit card which is a major pain in the ass because I have to convince him and all this shit that wastes both his and my time instead of just fucking ordering. I'll have to get my mom to order something.

I can't find anyone around here that hires a 15-year old. Although my sisters friends(who are younger than me) got jobs somehow, which is fucked up. Even if I did get one, it would take forever to save up for it on minimum wage.

No surprise to me, it lags about the same after 1 minute in-game. Looks like i'm fucked for another year, these douche bags in charge seemed extremely jumpy to hire 16-year olds I noticed.

It is probably your motherboard that is the problem.

Now, you might be able to find a replacement that is compatible with your CPU and Video Card.

The RAM is also not helping. But, a motherboard upgrade is likely to mean a RAM upgrade as well. (though, again, you might be able to find something better and compatible).

HDDs not brilliant, but with 2Gig and running the settings you are, you shouldn't be getting lag from swap-file usage.

Video Card - are you sure on the specs you've listed? do you mean the X1650 PRO AGP? which has 512MB DDR2 and is AGP 4x/8x?
If so, it's probably about 3/4 the performance of my X800XT PE AGP - so the card is good, the motherboard it's plugged into is making it shit.

Sound Card good. Very good. Best bit of the kit.

CPU - hmm... okayish... but finding a cheap replacement, isn't going to be easy - so you're probably gonna want a mobo compatible with that too.

Now, as you've said you don't have a job, you're probably reading that and thinking "SHIT!", and would rather find some free ways to grab some more fps's...

Right, to start with I'd drop all your settings to low - everything on the absolute lowest it can go - minimum - with your system you're better off starting there and working up, rather than starting higher and working down.

Then, select the screen resolution that you're most comfortable playing with (or best suits your monitor).

Now, play at those settings for while - get a feel for it... and use 'renderer.drawfps 1' to monitor your framerates.

Now, you want to increase the video settings in the following order:

1st. Texture Filtering - in fact, this is very low cost feature and you may be able whack this straight up to High without too much frame rate loss.
2nd. Terrain, Geometry and Textures - in that preference order - these mainly hit the ram - you're not going to be able to take them very high, because of your AGP 4x, so take them up one at a time, increase one a notch, play test and monitor frame rates, then go onto the next one, and so on.
3rd. Effects, Lighting - Effects ram and video card and CPU - Lighting is mostly down to video card performance, but they're both high-cost features.
4th. Dynamic Shadows and Dynamic Lighting - these are hit cpu, ram and video card - very-high-cost features.

Finally, you'll notice I didn't mention Anti-Aliasing - AA is relatively cheap on ATI cards, so adjust the above settings first, then try it with 2x AA - if it's a big slow, try knocking one or two of the later of the above settings down a notch.

All the way along you want to be testing small increments of single settings each time.

Testing in single player is both a good idea and not so good an idea - it allows you to more quickly get a feel for a lot of small increments, but as your starting to reach the point where your system start creaking, you'll need to start testing on multiplayer - to take internet latency into account.

Finally, there are a few things you should check in Catalyst Control Center:

1. AA and AF - should be set to 'Use application settings'.
2. Mipmap detail level - should be on 'Performance'.
3. Vertical Refresh on 'Performance (Always Off)'.
4. Experiment with Adaptive AA - some times it helps, sometimes not - but leave it on 'Performance'
5. Experiment with Catalyst AI - again some times it help - sometimes on 'Standard', sometimes on Advanced, sometimes Off.
6. Enable geometry instancing - ON - under 'More settings'.

My 2Gz Athlon was maxing out at 100% usage the whole time I was playing, but I had a 5200FX and it was 8xAGP.

Have you tried adjusting your PunkBuster settings?

Don't have a link but go to the PB Forums and do a Search.

There's a legitimate way to make PB scan your system only every 500 seconds instead of the default.

That makes a difference for some people.
