Stairway to heaven needs much more skill and technique than Canon Rock imo
lol stairway was THE easiest song for me to learn. and it was one of my first songs too. i only play it when my mom makes me play for family, cuz its something they recognize. its soooooo boring IMO.
well so you can play stairway without probs, well same for me with this Canon Rock song. But you call me oh so gifted.... pf

Well, as I´ve said, Jerry C used a Line6 TonePort to record it, if I´m allowed to quote his homepage. As I´m a huge fan of Line6 modeling hardware for PC/Mac, I´ve bought a GuitarPort UX2 and the metalshop upgrade.

For Canon Rock, I suggest a Diezel (Deity) VH4 model, TS808 model, Phase90-100 model and an digital delay, for the cabinet a Boogie 4x12 model or a JCM 2x12 model.

When I played this stuff with my real amps, I´ve used a ENGL Special Edition 670 6L6 in Lead-Channel2 with Gain at 12 o´clock, added my Tubescreamer TS 808, Ibanez AD9 Analog Delay and the MXR Phase 90, into a Marshall JCM800 V30 4x12 cabinet and plugged my Ibanez RG.

Well the Line6 GuitarPort UX1 is around 149€ and comes along with two recording tools (demos only). If you only want to record some stuff here and there at home I suggest either LiveLite6 or Riffworks (brilliant tool), for something more professional at least Cubase or Logic.

I´ve just seen there is a Line6 mini POD for around 99€ aviable...

Just check Line6 homepage or your dealer... I´d say as Line6 is a US company, those stuff is sold there even before it´s released in EU?!

Look for an instructional book or video from Yngwie Malmsteen. He played that type of metal/classical fusion stuff.

Ok I haven't read all prev. posts but i guess some may have suggested this.

get lessons and some education.

This song is not so hard to play i guess. Maybe not to compare your self to me. I have been in some music education almost all my life. though i'm only 15 yrs old. the first year I maybe had no education as such but my mother was very musical and always listening to some music so that maybe was my inspiration.
I was in choir till I was 5 or 6 (for about 4-5 years) then i learned to play the flute till i was 8 or som. Then I have been taking lessons at classical guitar (I also play electric). I also took lots of other courses in music and my cousin played the guitar and i sometimes got to test his but I think I've been playing the guitar for about 8 years.

anyways yes I would recommend some lessons. I think this song is really not hard to play when i watch this guy playing it. Its mostly ornament notes (dunno how to say it in english). Still it's not the easiest song u could find. It takes a lot of practice. When i'm learning new songs i want to learn (others from the classical pieces) and i'm too lazy too pick it up and/or write it down (also for those harder pieces) I use Powertabs. (http://www.powertabs.net, you can get the software used here (powertab editor)). Its pretty easy. You just sign up and browse for tabs on the site, download them and then open it with Powertab editor and it plays the tab in midi sounds and its written in both tabs and regular notes. there are also other websites than powertabs.net that have tabs for powertab editor. just google it

hope it helped
