The argument is, Vitter's prostitute fiasco took place before he was in his current position. People say the media is blowing it out of proportion. The man has been forgiven by God (roll eyes) and by his wife (Hillary the 2nd). SO all should be done right. Just leave them alone.

The problem is, Vitter has made a name off of criticizing other politicians morals and has always attempted to place himself in the moral high ground.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/11/us/11 … ref=slogin

Also, in my city, they have prostitution stings in high traffic hooker areas. They arrest people for prostitute solicitation. The around 11:30 at night on the news between commercials, they air a list of the people charged that week in the prostitution sting. the list stays up on the screen all of two seconds and disappears. You look , close and quick, you can see names of people you work with and maybe even friends you know.

SO Vitter admitted to this crime. He has been forgiven. now where are the criminal charges of prostitute solicitation?

Another hypocritical Republican. Weird.

You have to thank the media for making stories about it and blowing it out of proportion (goes the same for all politicians).

That's why I love Mitterrand's reply when confronted by the press about his youngest daughter: 'et alors'.

I kinda thought we all paid for sex in one form or another. Money seems to be just as good as payment as any. It is either that or dinner and a movie or clean the bathroom, or flowers, even GOD FORBID, "cuddling and talking" when YOU are done, and MASH, Star Trek Next Generation or sportscenter is on.......Nothing is free in this life, certainly not sex!!

Absolutely, I do.. Why should I care what an individual does with his money or his health? It doesn't affect me one bit. Even if it did, legalizing it would provide healthier prostitutes by regulating exams and such. It would be a legit business and the operators of such businesses would have to get licensed by the state and prove the health of its employees.

There are countries that have legalized prostitution, specially in Europe.

Awesome. I agree with you. *mountains crumble in Tibet

But by that logic, you would support marijuana being legal also right?

How do you feel about elected officials having no punishment in cases where a normal citizen clearly would have had criminal penalties?

IN D.C. if Vitter was a normal citizen his maximum penalty would be $500 dollar fine and up to but no more than 90 days in jail.

One county in Nevada has legalized prostitution. And its not Vegas people. But it works like a champ out there. Everything is regulated and the state comes in and tests the girls. THe downer is your going to pay out the ass for it because there is no competition. You'd have to go get a crackhead off the boulevard.

Hypcoracy maximus, I love it...

Run Larry run - run with it! http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/fly … 07-11.html
Flynt is mining responses to an ad he placed last month in The Washington Post. The ad promised a million-dollar reward for anyone providing evidence of illicit encounters with members of Congress.

The 20-plus new leads, Flynt said, come from the newspaper ad and not Palfrey. The Hustler publisher, arrested and jailed multiple times during his decades-long career, vowed to provide clear proof and only out lawmakers whom he perceives to be hypocrites.

“You guys always know, [from] the past, I deliver,” Flynt said. “And if I fail to, the mainstream media will crush me like a bug.”

The Vitter scandal has touched off new anxiety among Republicans over whether their party will pay the price for members who fail to live up to their moral principles. Flynt, an unabashed Democrat, acknowledged that the GOP provides him with easier targets.

“Republicans are more fun because they get caught so easily,” Flynt said. “They’ve been living a repressed life all their life. Democrats are liberal — they wear it on their sleeve. Their sex life is what it is. They don’t spend their whole life trying to cover it up.”

Yes I do support legalizing drugs, for basically the same reasons, why do I care what someone does to themselves. As long as their are strict and ENFORCED laws ( just like alcohol, except we will enforce the laws) governing the spill over of your abuse onto others, IE driving under the influence etc..... I say if you wanna snort coke and blow your mind, hurry up and get it over with so you make room for someone who is willing to produce in our society. Also any rehab that comes from such abuse comes out of THEIR pockets, not the taxpayers. Personal responsibility is fundemental on my world.

Vitters sexcapades in my world is not news worthy and is between him, his wife, and his doctors.

I am not naive to think Coke isn't abused, I am saying put the drug dealers out of business, and let the govt. tax the shit outta the stuff so at least it will take the burden off of the taxpayers for rehab and policing and shit. Tax it like alcohol and cigarettes. Fuck'em

WTF does a mistake he made and that he and his family has dealt with, privately, have to do with the quality of his work.
This guy hired an escort service while Clinton had sex with an intern in the office of the President.  One did something that was personally destructive and admitted to it before it was public and one abused his authority and repeatedly lied about it - BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE!

Liberals want it both ways; Forgive their own and condemn others for making some of the same mistakes they did - just because someone stood tall a spoke of morals - I got it; let's just all be without morals and prove the Islamic Extremest to be right about us.

I hear that the Democratic convention will be held in Wisconsin for two reasons; 1) It has "sin" in it, 2) There is an endless supply of Cheese to go with there Whine

You just repeated the neo-con death creed.  I don't know how you were able to include the Islamic extremists, but good job.

Seriously though the 'moral majority' seems to often be the immoral minority, you know?
