"Japan nuke plant leak worse than thought"

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070718/ap_ … apan_quake

I will buy what they are saying for now, but I hope this does not get ugly.

I'm more worried of the 32 pieces of nuclear material recently lost in Canada that could make its way to a bomb in the United States.

I doubt it's going to turn in to Chernobyl, though it has the potential to become a Three Mile Island.

Aww come on guys cut the japanese some slack. Or a giant robot will come kick your ass.

Seriously though I read about this and I still think nuclear power is the way to go. 1 leak in how many earthquakes? I would say if we put more effort into negating nuclear waste that problem could be resolved.

Agreed...  Canada has a great system we could use as a model.

The DoD funded the design of a reactor cooled with liquid sodium and incapable of meltdown which also practically removed waste. However, it was deemed to expensive to be viable in market and only one prototype was ever constructed.

The media also needs to take into account the amount of success nuclear power plants have had and how safe a lot of them actually are. Nuclear power is the future. The US needs to pull its head out of its ass and ignore the stupid hippies and invest more in nuclear power. It's cleaner, more efficient, and will help us all in the long run.

^Oh and liquid sodium =/= salt water. Salt water is solid sodium dissolved in H2O. Liquid sodium is just the element sodium in liquid form.
