My well good, red bike got piked last december, and recently i have seen it locked up down town, its there every friday, is in horrible condition, has broken pedals, ripped saddle, faded colour on frame, brakes have been cut, tires are bald etc.

what should i do?, it was more comfortable and better than the one i have atm,  my dad sometimes gos down to check if its their but hes always too late, its in a bad way and i would like it back (salvage parts, build custom bike) but that proberly aint happening, so what should i do to make sure the thief cant use it?

I know it's hard, but you have to move on. She's found someone else.

Plenty more fish in the sea. Go out, get drunk, find yourself a nice mountain bike, even if only for the night. It'll all be fine in the morning.

if you are able to get your bike back, you should customize it into this

To make sure the thief can't use it, buy your own chain and lock and when he's not looking, chain it somewhere.

I doubt you can convince him to give it back (my experiences with wanting stolen/borrowed stuff back has not been pleasant. "What? No, you never let me borrow any money/your pencil/etc..") so easiest way out would be to move on .

annoying thing is, the way my bikes got nicked, left the garage open (as we do so we can get food and stuff from the freezer) and 15 minutes later 3 bikes :gone: (and they left the most expensive one). insurance company sent us new bikes, (more expensive than the previous ones) and two weeks later one of them got pinched.

DUDE get an alarm for your bike, they make them now to tell you if someones even standing too close, if they sit on it etc. Sad thing is there are only preventative measures to keep them from being stolen , if the thief wants it they will get it. Sux man srry that happened to ya, its my biggest fear personally

knife the tires, get one of those great locks that can't be broken and chain it to a lamp post as someone else said. Then if they get the police involved you can show them you have the key to that lock and have your family and insurance company for that matter vouch that its the one thats stolen as the insurance company will have records of it.

Take a hammer and a screw driver. Now go up to the bike, lift the chain off, using the screwdriver, press the metal end against the gears on the rear wheel. Take the hammer and the screw driver. It'll jam the gears and he can't ride it anymore.

It's an easy fix, but he dosen't seem to be the kind of guy to fix up a bike. He'll probably steal another one, leaving you with your old one.

Umm...

1.  Close the garage between hauling stuff from the freezer.
2.  Keep a rotweiller in the garage.
3.  Install a video camera in the garage.
4.  Lock your bikes.

I think you just like getting new bikes.
