They are also governed by rules and watched by moderators, to ensure that people treat their opponent with respect and honor. This system works, because it ensures that everyone is amicable towards each other, and that the intended types of debates take place.
However, while this is, for a debate forum, just a tad bit short of perfect, debating like this constantly can become a little tiring. Using mature thought, and rational conduct requires thinking, and that requires work. It is so much easier to debate by simply ignoring points you don't wish to acknowledge, and by attacking your opponent, rather than their correct statements.
Until now, BF2s members have been unable to experience this different, less taxing kind of debate. Fortunately, with the creation of the official 'Debate Like a Moron Thread', this is now possible. Rather than encouraging the debates we currently have, the official 'Debate Like a Moron Thread' shuns them, instead encouraging the use of cowardly and n00bish tactics, with impunity. Faced with a point you can't argue? Simply ask for the source for every fact contained within their statement. This would never fly in a real evironment, but in the official"Debate Like a Moron Thread', this is exactly what we want, and the kind of discussion we wish to foster.
