camping choppers with mounted AT rockets

I've seen a video of this somewhere, but I couldn't find it using search.

On some maps it is possible to use mounted AT rockets (like the TOW) to camp the enemy attack chopper where it spawns. On Zatar Wetlands you can hit the chopper as it takes off from Central Island by using the TOW at Natural Gas Station (which is in the video I saw). Apparently it can be done on Sharqi too - you can hit the MEC chopper from Hotel.

Anyone know of other examples?

He means MEC main, and its quite easy to do in repetition once you figure out where (you aim at a cloud like in 1942).

Easiest way of course (and how everyone else figured it out) is make an empty local server and go commander. Shoot, Capslock, watch, re-aim, repeat.

Yeah, I've seen pix or video of that here. The trick is to be commander or squad leader and set a marker (e.g., attack this position) on the enemy helipad. I forgot how you actually aim the TOW at the marker.

I remember the video you are talking about...

From the hotel on sharqi this guy hit the mec chopper...

But I believe he said his buddy was telling him where to aim...

I think on Kubra Dam you can hit the chopper that spawns at the Dam... from tow at intake.

But you do this at the start of the game to keep the chopper out all round.

US start with Hotel, US shoot MEC, MEC die lots.

Besides the whole point of this exercise is to (learn where to) shoot into the fog.

Back to Sahqi pixel shots, it is possible to hit the US chopper from hotel but its a pretty useless shot unless you have pushed the enemy back to tv station.

hitting the mec chopper from Hotel is easy. Aim at the leaf on the palm tree and move down as you lose sight of the missile

The trick is firing it like artillery. Fire it and then immediately exit the TOW and it will dip down at a predictable rate. This has three benefits:

1. Don't need to sit on the TOW for so long
2. The TOW shot now has the capacity to dip over obstacles and hit things that aren't directly hittable
3. Less finicky. You don't have to remember an aiming spot AND a time to wait, just the former.

The TOW has a big range (the MEC uncap TOW at the tank spawn on 64 player sharqi *almost* reaches the TV station but not quite) so you can pixel aim on quite a few maps. I tend to do it when I'm bored or when someone has been flaming me (nothing like winding up a chopper whore on sharqi by TOWing either the cobra or the mi-28).

Other shots I've figured out = vista point on Dragon Valley to carrier (both choppers - totally blind, dipping shots). However, some of them are much more difficult to remember than others due to a lack of landmarks. On sharqi you can hit loads of stuff with most of the TOW sites. You can also hit the TV station flag & chopper using the surveillance TOW.
