Just play BF2 through your nicotine urges.

If that doesn't work Masturbate.

If that doesn't work then get addicted to something else, like Speed or Heroine.

I dunno how much I can help but good luck with it.  Smoking is disgusting.  Just make sure you stay occupied with tasks.  Get a 1000 piece puzzle if you have to.

find a way to transfer the habit. everytime ya wanna smoke, chew a piece of gum.

ive been smoking for 6 years and everytime i want to go a few weeks without smoking i chew a lot of gum.  it helps. also get your friends in on helping you quit. tell them not to let you smoke around them and have them toss the pack if they see you with one...it hurts but if you have people helping you along the way youll do alot better.

hope this helps man, and good luck

Just make sure you go through at least three days, after that, it should be a lot easier.
Good Luck!

Walk around without money or credit card, that way you can't buy a pack of smokes.  Bring only enough money to get what you need to get through the day such as bus fair, or $3 for a sandwich.  You could always carry less than $5 or whatever a pack of ciggerettes cost.

Try to stay away from your fellow smokers so that you don't get the urge to bum a smoke.

Change your routine to avoid temptation to smoke, that means different directions to and from work, the house, school, supermarket etc.  That way you're avoid certain visual ques that will make you want to smoke.

Excercise.  Drink lots of water.  Stay away from booze.  Booze makes you lose focus, and breaks you down and make you want to smoke.  Avoid a really nice meal like steaks, etc cause those will cause you to want to smoke.

Get a gf that hates smokers.  That one helped me a lot.

Make a bet with friends or family members.  If you can quit smoking for 3 months, they would have to treat you to dinner.  Else you have to treat them to dinner.  Get your firends and family involved in your quest to quit smoking.  The idea is to create a support team.  The more the better that way if you fail you'll feel really bad so you try harder not to let them down.

Have pictures of mouth cancer, throat cancer, lukemia (sp), people with holes in their thoat, and lung cancer paitents all over your house, desktop wallpaper, etc.

Eat lots of beef jerky, pixi sticks, etc..  For me eating stuff that is really salty or sweet doesn't make me want to smoke.

For me don't use Silk Quit!!  Or any other program that keeps the amount from your last cigerrette till now.  Some people feel its a great pride to be able to count how many days, hours, minutes, seconds from the last cigerrete they smoke.  But for me, it never worked, cause everytime I look at it it reminds me how long ago i had my last puff and then I feel depress and then smoke again.  Sure I might not be able to tell someone that my last puff was Nov. 1, 2006 at 7:32:12 PM but i don't care i'm smoke free now.

Go cold turkey, patch, gum, etc = lame.

Stay away from driving.  Especially traffic jams.  Those were my favorite time to smoke.  Either ride a bike around or avoid as much as possible from driving.  If your car smells like smoke, clean it out.

Be prepare for the following and quit at a good time to give yourself a better fighting chance.  Best time to quit is while you're on vacation and stress free.  Remember that when you quit, the first 3 weeks will be hell.  You will be moody and really really slugish.  Don't plan to quit if you have finals or a deadline at work cause the stress and your slugishness will get to you.  You can't focus and you're not as sharp.  During this time, you'll sleep a heck of a lot more.  I was sleeping 12-14 hours a night and still feel tired.  You'll also cough up a lot of crap and sniffling a lot.  That's a sign that your lungs are clearing up and that you're body is adjusting to the lower nicotine levels so its a good thing.  You'll feel sick before you'll feel better.  After 2 weeks, and from week 3-4 you'll hit the depression phase.  You'll feel pretty crappy, pissed, moody, hopeless, and want to be the living crap out of stuff all at once.  After a month, you'll get intesne urges from time to time.  You'll start getting memories when you smell ciggerette smoke just by passing smokers or smelling people who smoke.  You might dream about smoking, and then you'll wake up feeling pissed that you gone so long without smoking but then you realize that it was a dream and you didn't smoke and then you'll feel all happy again.

Anyways, good luck.  It ain't easy.  Everyone is different.  For me it was hard.  But I'm glad I'm not smoking.  It's been 3-4 months now for me.  Things are getting better, the cravings arn't as bad, it gets easier everyday to stay clean after the first initial month to a month and a half.

Edit:  I also prayer a lot about it and that was the main factor.

Just don't go cold turkey, that'll never work. You have to slowly drop the habit.

How much do you regularly smoke?

I'd say limit yourself to one pack a week at first. Then after a week or two, keep the one pack limit, but throw half the cigarettes away. Then a few weeks later throw 3/4 of them away.

By throwing a bunch away, you'll realize what a waste of money it is. And it'll also be easier to follow the rule of a pack a week, instead of a certain number a week because then you'll be tempted to take "just one more".
