I have a pretty big TV (somewhere around 50" or so) and I have hooked my computer up to it before and everything was working fine except I couldn't change the resolution. It was stuck at 1024X768. I have an EVGA 7800GTX and it has 2 DVI ports and an S-Video port. When I hooked the computer up the first time I tried I used the S-Video, because that was the cable my video card came with. Is there any way that I can change the resolution to something more manageable than 1024X768?
Maybe if your card supports HDMI then you can get a DVI to HDMI converter and that will allow you to change it to a higher resolution. Not sure though.

TV's are not made for big resolutions, so probably not.
You will also notice that most text and fine details are blurry, because TV's are not made to display that stuff like monitor's are.

it also has to do with the connection type. s-video looks like crap on say a 42" lcd tv but dvi or vga looks much better. also is you tv just a SD 50", if so 1024x768 is probably the max res it can handle.CrazeD wrote:

I know this is old, but I need some more help.
Its a HDTV and I was wondering if I could just use a DVI to HDMI cable to connect my computer to the TV and that would let me be able to change my resolution?

What does the manual say about the resolution?
Its probably your TV's native resolution then. Even though, on my 26'' LCD tv I get a 1300 something by 768 something resolution and it looks damn sweet!
First of all confer with the manual for the big screen about connections and settings, i've hooked up my pc to my plasma many times without any problems at all ...
Check if the LCD or Plasma has a pc connection, many of them does and most of those are DVI .... if you use a HDMI you must also activate the port for it to work properly ...
