Hi, I was wondering if you guys could help me pick out an external hard drive. I want something from about 300-500GB and is less than $200.00
I was looking at the Free Agent 320GB for $120.00 but maybe there is something better.

Western Digital makes a good external, that is what I use with my laptop:

this drive is cheap and works very nicely so far for me
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Keep in mind, you can just shop for an enclosure and a drive separately. In some cases it seems some marketed "external" hard drives are higher than if you went and bought a drive and a an enclosure separate.

Having it made from something like aluminum is important to keeping cool.

The one a bought over year ago is: http://pcclub.com/product_details.cfm?itemno=A3326328 (exact one not sold any more)
I still have an run Virtual Machines off it for work ... its rock solid

meh, they are seagates now. And I get 2 years warranty in case anything goes wrong. For €80 a piece you can't really go wrong

True, but not a warranty for your data. I know they merged, but are they in fact the same drives? In any case that is a good price.

A 500GB Western Digital MyBook Pro for $206.99 should do the trick! I'm planning on getting one myself, too.

Very nice pick but what is different between the other WD the link Omni has provided. They both are 500GB and with 7200RPMs but different price.
