Nearly a third of the population of Iraq is in need of immediate emergency aid, according to a new report from Oxfam and a coalition of Iraqi NGOs. The report said the government was failing to provide basics such as food and shelter for eight million people. It warned of a humanitarian crisis that had escalated since the 2003 invasion. Meanwhile, the US agency overseeing reconstruction in Iraq said economic mismanagement and corruption were equivalent to "a second insurgency".

I thought the struggle for Iraq was won over three years ago, have I missed something? I could've sworn I saw some guy on an aircraft carrier celebrating with a big banner behind him.

Oh, and we just let the Saudi's (primarily supplier of suicidal insurgents) have $20 Billion in new weapons...I'll start a pool to see how many days it'll take for a shiny new gun from that shipment to make it into the hands of someone that kills a G.I.

Yeah, but move on to what? The American empire needs more blood to keep going strong.

We had a turning point in 2000 with 2 paths:

1. Cash in our imperial chips and boost the republic. (like our British buddies)

2. Sell out the republic for the sake of empire. (like our 3rd Riech or Roman buddies)

You can guess which one we tied our fate to, and by re-electing Bush by popular vote in 2004, we own it now. Iraq was just the start of the "debacles" that will come now no matter who is president or what cause they take up. Our economy and lifestyle demands it. I'm afraid the rise and fall of the American empire will mean more of the same for a very long time. We cannot know prolonged peace, our economy will no longer support it.
