I just wish you guys would make up our minds as to what America needs to do. In one thread we need to stop being world police and mind our own business. Then, in threads like this we need to step up, and take responsibility for our actions. In this case whatever bubbalo says we did in Africa that makes them eat each other. Give me strength.
Africa, just like the rest of the world, needs to be left to 'grow up' without help or hindrance from the west. The UN is a joke. You can't fast-forward the political evolution of an entire continent, let alone a country.usmarine2005 wrote:

I challenge you to not play the blame game, but give us a reason to help the majority of north and central Africa. I have said before that it is clearly a failed society and beyond repair, and I have taken a lot of shit for saying that, but how am I wrong?
Give us a reason to continue helping this part of the world.

Africa doesn't need anymore aids
I'm sorry, rather nasty and inconsiderate joke, but here's the deal
United states sends aid to africa
African governments get the aid
African governments, often run by warlords, steal the aid and keep most of it and sell the rest for massive prices
African people don't get aid
African warlords get richer
United states funds african warlords
sure seems logical huh

going in there will force people to accept a government that their culture is not compatable with, which, as we all know from iraq, just doesn't work too well
So your pointing out how the people of this area live under horrible conditions and this is somehow a reason to forget about them? Surly this means we should be helping them. After all we ran to the help of the women of Afghanistan and Iraqi(not that that did them any good)
Isolationism didn't work the first time, it can't be done when you're the most powerful nation in the world.mtb0minime wrote:
I don't think we should help any other country or continent or anywhere outside of the U.S. until every single problem in our own country is fixed and running perfectly, which is a long way off.
Why are we always putting our noses in everyone else's affairs when we have our own to attend to?
Countries that are as economically and materially wealthy as the west / north, and who often profited off of the blood and sweat of those people that live in the developing world, have a moral obligation to do what they can. Turning your back, pretending you don't care or letting them "grow up" is not an option, in fact I'd call it unconscionable. There is document called the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and when the rights that are supposed to be inalienable are being violated on a daily basis, it is a shame the world should bear. Those that turn their backs or rush to arms immediately should feel the shame most heavily.CameronPoe wrote:
