i am upgrading my graphics card and i need a new power supply but i have to wait a while before i can do this
my computer stats are

Processor: Pentium 4 (HT)
RAM:512MB dual 256MB Dimms which i am putting in a 1GB DIMM soon
Current Graphics card: 2 ATI Radeon X300 at 128MB each. One is PCI Express The Other I believe is AGP but it doesn't say and i can't run Crossfire
Power Supply Output:305W

I don't know anything about AGP so i am using PCI Express but i only have one PCI Express 16x slot and my current graphics card is in that is there anything i need to worry about when replacing that

I have no idea on a new power supply

For Graphics cards I am trying to decide between

ATI RADEON X1650 Pro 512MB DDR2 $165

NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 256MB DDR3 Fatal1ty $210

and

XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB DDR3$230

i don't know the difference between that 256MB DDR3 and 512MB DDR2 perfom
i want the one the will perform best on BF2 and BF2142

and i am on a budget of about 350 total

Honestly 8600s arent that fantastic, especially when many 8600s can be beat by Dx9 cards. If you really want to go with an 8 series, go for an 8800 at least.  As for power requirments, a 500W PSU from a reputable company should do you fine.  You could go lower in watatge, but always better to be over prepared

If you dont have Vista, and arent planning on upgrading to it, going with a DX10 card is pretty much a waste, as DX10 doesnt work in XP.  As for current DX9 cards go, the Ati X1950 Pro is the best in that regard, or if you prefer Nvidia(as I do ) the 7950 is your best bet there.

Would recommend a PSU, but most people recommend the big bands out there, I generally go with smaller companies with better deals, havent had a part go bad yet

Edit:  Was looking at the XfX 8600GTS at it beats out the 8800GTS I recommend, So id suggest checking your specs before purchasing

what about ram is it going to make a big difference in performance or is it the core clock speed

I would wait till you had 100 dollars more and wait for a few price drops and get a new system that supports DDR2 and is either core 2 duo or AM2

Pentium 4's are worthless when it comes to DDR2
