Does anyone have one?

Because at the moment my card is idling at 78 degrees.

I'm looking at the Thermalright HR-03 because it's the only one I can find.

If anyone has one of these heatsinks please could you explain (preferably with a picture) how it fits on your card and around other components.

*I need to see if it will fit in my system*

Thank you.

Did you end up buying that A900 case?

I will be doing yeah, when I get paid. I just didn't think it would necessarily cool my graphics card.

Motherboard's at 44 degrees - which I know is really hot - which is why I want that case.

My case usually is around 5-10 degrees above the room temperature..

But I also don't have a 8800 in my case, I'd wait till you get your paycheck, buy the case, install everything, then if your card is still running too hot, then think about getting a new Heatsink for it..

You speak sense my man!

That's what I'm going to do.

Just wondered if anyone had any experience with anything like that.

works great on my x1900xt

EDIT: kinda hard to see on pic but the bottom of the fan is roughly 5mm above the soundcard

Thanks alot, that's exactly what I'm looking for

Does it significantly help with the cooling over the stock? (I know it's a different card but same in principle).

huge difference. Max load on stock was around 100°C, now it's around 65-70°C. And I can't hear the 120mm fan over the rest of the system while the stock cooler sounded like a B-52 taking off.

I can actually run the card completely fanless with the thermalright heatsink. It will max out around 100°C. Burned my finger badly when I tried it out. That should teach me not to touch running components

EDIT: in case you were wondering why my temps are above usual levels for this card: I inreased the V a fair bit so that adds a lot of heat

Someone I know got one for his 8800 (seen above), and although it does give amazing results, he later got rid of it because the RAM sinks kept dropping off. But looking at how Max's is running fine, I guess he just got a dodgy unit. Just don't plan on buying anymore PCI cards.

Hummm aint the 8800 series suposed to be running very hot anyway?

And i would go for the the same things as max.

Btw! Why only one 8800?

Apparently that thing takes up 5 PCI Slots (inc. fan and card) - is that true?!

Maybe not 5, but it looks like it takes up a good 3-4 slots..

it takes up 3 slots with a 120mm fan on it, 2 if you run it passive. If you flip the heatsink, so that it resides above the gfx card, it takes up 1(passive)/2(120mm fan mounted) slots, trouble with my Big typhoon/dfi nf4 ultra combo is that I only have roughly 2 cm above the gfx card before I touch the CPU HSF.

The cooler is a beast but it does do an awesome job.

I also Heard the heatsink takes up 1-2 slots and u cant use it when going SLI.
May want to look out for funky units cos i have seen/heard complants that the bottom is some times warped. Other than that its ment to be great!
Ive been lucky and never needed one for my 8800GTX.

you can actually use them for SLI if you mount one heatsink above and one heatsink below the card

A VF900 would work with a 8800GTX from what I've heard.
