As luck would have it I had an X-Power PSU die at work last week (550W), after a year and a half of being on 24/7 the fan seized up and it overheated eventually.

It'll do you for a while, it was stuck in a dusty cupboard for all the time it was on with about 2 hours down time in 18 months which is why the fan jammed.

Frankly for the cost they're bang on, but nothing out of this world, voltages were acceptable but not uber steady, dont think it'd be much use if you were planning on overclocking or anything like that, and it gives up like a French man when theres a lightning storm, no capacity for absorbing power spikes it just cuts off where as more expensive PSUs tend to just suck it up and carry on.

EDIT: I just noticed thats £80, I paid like £20 for the one we used at work You should be able to get a better branded one than that for that money.

Wont be overclocking at all, and i have a surge protector, hopefully this fixes the problem of my new pc turning off every 20 seconds.

I'd be going for somthing like a Corsair or Hiper if they're cheap enough, Hiper certainly should be, £80 is a bit much for that PSU mate I thaught it was cheap like the one I'd bought and didnt even look at the price lol.

EDIT:

There you go, a couple of choices. The OCZ one would be my personal choice but the Hiper is good too.

Don't get that.

Certainly don't buy PSUs from Maplins.

I'd get this:

Seasonic and Enermax make the best PSUs. Seasonic make the Corsair ones.

Im only buying from the shop as i cant wait 3 days for delivery, and maplin and pc world are the only 2 shops near by. And PC world dont have any ones worth even thinking off.

That's awkward.

But I know the feeling. I've done exactly the same thing myself. Don't spend that much on one if you have to get one from Maplins - get a cheap one as a quick fix, then get a better one.

The other cheaper ones are like 500 watt, which i am not risking. If this works then i will be over the moon and happy with, and wont care about the loss.

If those 2 are your only choices you're stuck with the x-power lol, Pissy Werld only seems to stock Jeantech and Kensington PSUs *shudders*.

I'm supprised neither of them stock a decent brand PSU, it's kinda sad.

EDIT: Cant you just pay for next day delivery from somewhere?
