I just bought a Logitech MX518 mouse and would like to know how to assign the buttons for increasing/decreasing sensitivity and the document switch button to specific functions in BF2. Currently BF2 doesn't respond to these buttons when I try to assign them. I can change the sensitivity in game, but what if I'd like to use these buttons for something else?
The sensitivity buttons should work in BF2. For any other buttons, run the software that comes with the mouse. You can download it from the logitech website, I think the current version is SetPoint 4.0. There's a tab in the SetPoint program for assigning things to the buttons.
san4 has given you the correct advice. I have the same mouse. Without having setpoint installed, all of the mouse buttons will work as designed. However, with setpoint you can set custom dpi settings and bind functions to your mouse buttons.
When you are setting up your settings in setpoint be sure to click the box that says something to the effect of using the setpoint settings instead of the game settings. Works for me.

yup, should work as soon as you plug it in. i've recently reformatted and never reinstalled that proggy that lets you set your dpi manually and i can change my sensitivity on the fly.

I agree with most posters. I never installed any software and the buttons work.
Thanks for the replies, but the problem is that I want to use the sensitivity buttons for something else then setting the sensitivity. Same for the document switch button.
For example I'd like to view the map when pressing the "decrease sensitivity button".

When you do set it up, might not want to assign keystrokes to the sensitivity buttons. I tried that at first and even though i was pulling out different weapons with them, they were still adjusting my DPI..Maybe i screwed something up, but if you do assign something to them, check before you log on to your fav server.
YUP I TURNED MY SENSITIVITY FASTER THAN WINDOW'S MAX....using set point
I don't know about reassigning the sensitivity buttons, but I reassigned the annoying document switch button using the Setpoint software.Zoufiax wrote:

I have installed the original Setpoint software which came with my MX518. In that version it is possible to bind a keystroke to any mouse button, so problem solved. Thanks for your help all!
