Ok, so I went on my mission to get new fish. I bought 5 fish along with the chemicals to purify the new water. By the time I got home the last fish from the pond finally died and my 4 year old found him, so we had to have a funeral and bury it in the back yard. We put the new fish and cemicals in and all looked go. I wake up this morning and the hose for the pump had sprung a leak last night and pumped all the water out of the pond. I HATE FISH PONDS, the damn thing is out to get me. So now I have a pond with about 1 inch of water and 5 fish. My son dumped out the last of the chemicals to make the water safe so I have to go get more before I fill the pond again. Hope this fish survive till after work, with my luck a cat or something will come along and eat them and I will have to go spend another $40 on fish. DAMN POND>
I was in a mates car when he ran over a cat. It went under the car, but hit its head. Kept doing massive backflips for about 10 mins then the owners came out to take a look.krazed wrote:

I had a aquarium once. Quite a few years back. One day I was cleaning it, so the lid was of. I went outside my room to get some cleaning stuff, however one of my fish was in a jumpy mood. Well, you can guess what happened.
The stupid fish jumped out of the aquarium, few seconds later I step back into the room....and......splet!
Suddenly I had a flat fish.

Gold fish are used to shitty water quality ( literally ).
The clean water was a shock to their system, lol and that's what killed them.
Goldfish can usually deal with chlorine ok.

well crap. I guess that means I am going to kill them again when I fill the pond back up. So much to attempt number 2.ATG wrote:

Kinda related: I was taking my dog to the vet (since she's retarded) and was letting her to her business in this little grassy area by the office, before bringing her inside for her check-up. She's doing it, and I'm standing there, trying not to look (it's tempting, I know), and I notice this guy pull up in an OLD (And I mean OLD!) Jeep, with two dogs hanging out the backseat windows. So, he's coming into the parking lot, and does a pretty sharp turn to get one of the parking spaces closest to the door, and one of the dogs FLIES THE FUCK OUT THE WINDOW and lands on its head on the asphalt. By this time, my dog was finished and bolted over to the other dog, nearly tearing my arm off. My dog starts licking the other dog, and it stood up and meandered back over to its owner. I simply said "Click it or Ticket."
The end.
The end.
That's the same the that happens to humans when you get a headshot.Pubic wrote:

Long story in not so long version - So, my aunt, who had a farm, had this cat. So, one day the cat goes missing. Cat shows up finally a few weeks later, practically dead. Hair is all matted, looks ailing, ect., so she decides that the best thing to do is to put the poor thing down. She places it in a plastic bag and hangs it on the exhaust pipe of her running car for about 20 mins. After that, she places the bag in a box, puts it in a hole about 6 feet deep, and places rocks on the box before burying (Didn't want any wild animals digging it up later).
So, about 2 or 3 days later, this same cat came walking in the front door of the barn while my aunt was working.
Needless to say, she was scared shitless, ran home, swore that the cat was the the ghost of the cat that was out to get her for putting it down. Wouldn't go back to the barn for a month.

Nah, when I was 10 I bought my parents to goldfish to go with the tropical fish in the aquarium (warm water)Sheen1101 wrote:
goldfishes are really hard to raise because you have to watch the temperature of the water and the pH levels plus you can't just put fish in water right away.....you have to get a water conditioner to clean the water from chlorine..
They ended up putting them in the pond outside....a few years later my dad wanted to "redo" the pond.
So he asked me to get all the fish out, and 1 of the goldfish had survived all those long years (and winters xD).
conclusion --> goldfish are l33t capable of adapting animals
Let the water stand for week or so, orthere ares cycling chemicals you can buy to speed the process up. Also, just buy a shit load of baby gold fish.KnowMeByTrailOfDead wrote:

Many will die but after a few days the water will have stabilized and be healthy for most goldfish. The ones that survive will be strong and healthy.
Also buy dechlorinator just in case.
Yeah they didn't drown, they were poisoned. Call the fish cops!
Poor cat but god damn this shit is funny man here a +1!Curtor wrote:

I hope you will spent less time on bf2 and more time on goldfish.. please save them
I had a Box Turtle around the early 1980's it escaped in the yard until the next day when I cranked up the lawnmower.... which was outside near the yard...
I guess it had gotten underneath.
The shrapnel of shell and turtle flesh was quite messy.
I always check underneath the mower now.
I wonder if was attracted to the grass clippings stuck underneath the mower?

You go away, you were here first.
Get a dog or cat, they don't have a habit of requiring living environments that spring leaks. And they don't randomly die because of a slight pH balance.
edit: Eskies rock, my friend has one, it's so... uhh... I can't say cute cause that's unmanly... hmm, it's pleasing to the eye and psyche.

Not a whole lot of maintenance needed. Except for the coat.

Don't get any fish... YET
First fill up the pond with water and add some water conditioner (ie chlorine remover) then add a biological filter with an in pond pump (assuming the pond is large enough) with just a fountain attachment (for oxygenation). A biological filter will look like a plastic tray with some porous matting.
Depending on climate, is it warm and lots of sun? you will need to add some plants for protection (sun, birds, cats etc), will it freeze over in winter? then plants are not required just don't break the ice in winter and don't feed them, even if it get very cold don't feed them often. Actually goldfish only need feeding every second day or so even in warm climates.
When the filter has run for a week and there is no problems and you have added a few plants a few days before... get some fish your pond will be stable.
Next with the fish still in the plastic bag put them into the pond and let them float around, this will slowly bring the water temp in the bag to the same temp of the pond. Next put a FEW holes in the bag and let it float some more (this will slowly mix the water they are use too to the there new home water), then when the bag has sunk open the top and just let the fish slowly out.
This is the only way to set up a pond or Aquarium, for basically any type of fish (of course more is required for warm or salt water fish). stabilise the environment first then get plants (or coral) then get fish. Also the biological filter will only need cleaning when it becomes clogged up, do this in a bucket of water from the pond without chemicals and it will last years (also the bucket of dirty water is a great fertiliser).

Well, in a small pond thats only 3 feet deep by 5 feet long and 2 feet wide.. We fit 6 Flathead catfish in there each weighing about 20 pounds apeice.
They fucking annihilated the ponds pump.
Hell, they would freak out so bad that is you hit the water the ponds pump would fly out from them splashing there tails.

What he did, wa throw the darts at the fish to win the card on the floor, needless to say 2 poor fish's needlessly died that day, and the guy still didnt win his card, its sad
