I used to work fast food and some fucker (probably illegal) got all indignant on me when my Spanish wasn't perfect and up to his oh-so-wonderful standards (despite all the other employees and managers saying my Spanish was exceptional, especially for a white kid).
Maybe this is their way of getting back at us for wanting to kick out illegal immigrants? Until they're all out, though, I don't think they have a right to complain or to do this. Granted, the U.S. has not defined an official language, it's pretty obvious it should be English, if anything.

And with all this mention of assimilation, is it really that hard? I mean, generations of Africans, Asians, and Europeans have done it for centuries... why is it so hard for the Latin community? Are they really trying to enforce the stereotype that they're all lazy?
