US Senator John Cornyn, true conservative, spoke at a small private function I attended today. He pretty much is towing the Republican party line. It was interesting to hear his point of view and how it all ties together.
It isn't often you have direct contact with a pure-blooded conservative like this guy. I think he's in Bush's back pocket. But he covered pretty much everything we usually talk about on this forum daily.
So I had primary contact with a (neo-con???). I think I might be able to explain that point of view (not that I agree with it) from the speech & talking with the guy.
Examples:
-9/11 and Iraq
-illegal immigration and 9/11
-socialized healthcare vs private
-border enforcement vs minimum wage
-the fence (he's against it)
-tax relief/cuts vs increases...connection with healthcare
-healthcare reform and poverty levels
