Is this an on-going problem or has it just started?
What speakers do you have?
What sound card do you have? {if any}
XP or Vista?

If it only happened today - why don't you try a System Restore. Failing that, un-install any sound drivers and then re-install them

If that doesn't work, try your soundcard in another PC

Try installing new drivers. If you've moved your pc, check that everything is connected inside. This made me scared as hell once when I had only blur coming out on the screen. The result was that the graphics card was just a teeny weeny bit loosened when travelling on the backseat of my former GTi (GTi = shitty shocks & bumpy ride on even more crappier roads). Previous thingies no worky, go to sound card store and $p€nd thy savings.
