weird freezing

I got AMD 64 3200+ processor and my computer keeps freezing, usually it will be every 20 seconds, and it will freeze for 5 seconds. That's only after being in bf2 all day, but lately it's been doing that 30 minutes after restarting it.

anyone had this problem?
is it spyware / virus?
I've run spybot and adaware numerous times and it seems to help, for a while.

It freezes huh? Maybe its cuz u got the "Printscreen" button locked

When it starts doing it, call up Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and go to the Performance Tab...
Are you getting a lot of CPU or Page File usage?

If yes, go to Processes...
If CPU usage high, click CPU twice - what is using most using CPU?
If Page File usage high, click Mem Usage twice - what is using most mem?

Most the time the most cpu usage is System Idle Process, and mem usage is either firefox or xfire

I don't know about the other ones.

All of them - just in case - it's more a precaution than I think it's actually going to help.

Also, make sure you windows updates are up-to-date too.

Oh, also, make sure your HDD is well defragged.

Nate: That or the CPU overheating is the next thing to check after updating drivers, windows update and defragging.

Also, what type of mouse and keyboard do you have? are they USB? (ImDoomed's suggestion wasn't actually as silly as it may appear)

if it's the cpu overheating what should I do?
will adding a fan help?

mouse was a microsoft optical w/ usb to ps/2 adapter, the adapter stopped working so now I use it as usb.
and the keyboard is a standard emachines.
