True, but I guess my point is this... If you continue long enough down the road of unmitigated immigration from poorer nations than your own, wages fall, but the cost of living rarely falls as fast. If anything, it still rises.sergeriver wrote:
Totally agreed. But don't forget that comparing what Ceo's make a year is completely irrelevant. They don't increase the demand of food, and other basics, they increase the demand of luxury goods. Inflation doesn't change if a Lambo is demanded by two more rich people. You have inflation when thousands of minimum wagers get an increase in their salaries, and demand more basic goods.Turquoise wrote:
Some inflation would occur, but it's worth the border security we'd have as a result. It also would allow us to preserve our public amenities.sergeriver wrote:
If you get rid of aliens, you'll need to raise the minimum wage big time, then Americans will take those jobs. Now, tell me that won't produce inflation, even paying debts. More money will be in the street, the higher the demand the higher the prices.
We'll never be able to socialize medicine in America if illegals continue to use our medical services without paying for them.
So, basically, we have a situation where we may end up with the standard of living of Mexico if our system becomes overwhelmed by illegals.
Things would be relatively cheap, but that wouldn't matter because wages would be even cheaper.
