A manner of weeks ago, I went to a few local shops to get an estimate on how much it would be to replace the utter shit that is the inside of my '74 Charger. The lowest estimate is $1100. (900 was without panels)

I gave them all the mental bird and walked away. I can do, and WILL DO, it myself. Here is my progress so far:

Day 0:
This is the interior before the shit hit the fan.
Same thing, from another angle.

edit: My internet shitted out for a while, rest of it.

Day 1:
Gauges out to be cleaned, re calibrated and fixed.
Yes, that is an analog clock.. in a car.
Dashboard and Dashcap taken out to be primed/replaced

Day 2:
Headliner out
Floor treated with sealant rubber coating
Seats removed

Day 3:
Bucket seats! Taken out of a 69 AMC, modified the tracks to fit
Test fit, check!
Dashboard primed

Not a bad 3 days take. I have full plush carpet, brand new headliner, new dash cap, nearly finished painted panels. On Monday the new buckets and back bench seats are getting nice new white fabric reupholstering. I will also be constructing a center console and installing a B&M Console shifter within the next week.

Total parts and material cost: $330

I win.

My friend has redone a '79 Firebird... pretty much completely.  He thought it was going to take him a year and maybe 2 thousand dollars.

Four years and probably +5 thousand dollars later, he's still not driving it.

Use pubes to connect the cables. Good luck with fixing it.

Yeah... I would have said $900 was cheap, you'll be hard pressed to do it for that much by yourself.

Do the door panels in sheet metal.

900 bucks lol...

The estimate on my 84 camaro, for new seats, door panels, headliner, and carpet was 600 bucks.

My car weights 2 and a half tonnes. It needs no more metal. Trust me.
