For some God-forsaken reason, my internet keeps cutting out for a few seconds, than returns to it's normal state.
This happens every 5 minutes at times.

It seemed to mostly just happen in the evening, but now it's starting to happen during the day too.

I'm on a router, but the computer connected directly to the internet and my brother's computer (also through the same router) both have the same problem too.

If I'm doing stuff in Firefox, pages won't load until the connection stabilizes.

In games, I kinda teleport around the place, and occasionally get a "connection lost" message before I can play normally again.
It rarely disconnects me from the server though.

Any ideas?

My router is a D-Link 604.

Call your ISP.

One cause might be that you're too far from their station and your high internet speed is very unstable, in which case limiting it would help (by ISP).

I'll try calling them.

I am an admin on my PC, and have pretty much no knowledge of networks.

ok...with this I assume your in XP and that you have admin rights...

1. click on start...go to ''run''
2. type: CMD then press enter...
3. you should have a screen that emulate DOS...
4. type: ipconfig /release and press enter
5. type: ipconfig / renew  and press enter
6.close the cmd window...and start your web broswer...(in your case Firefox...)
7. go to http://192.168.0.1  (your router)
8. at this point they should ask for username and password...: defalut is admin for both
9. under the wan tab...home...chose dynamic IP...
Save and close...
reboot pc...

should solve...if not...go on d-link web site, find tutorial for d-link config...

Sounds like exactly the same set up I have with nightknifer atm. And i've tried to speed things up, so much. I was on the phone for days to both NTL/Virgin and Netgear and nothing helps. I'm blaming it on NTL/Virgin, and i'm getting a BT line thats as fat as my fist into my new computer.
