there is nothing wrong with IO, unless that's all you play.  you will not be a well rounded player without learning how to play vehicles.

It is more fun with vehicles, so much whine on IO about me cheating, been banned from atleast 50% of all populated bf servers.

The problem with IO is that it becomes a sniper-fest.  Everytime I play it becomes a lot easier just to snipe than to try to get a decent
squad together.  The defending team gets a huge advantage as there's no real way to cover from sniper fire when you have to walk
a kilometer to the closest enemy flag.

I think EA dropped the ball on this one.  I'd much rather see a no aircraft mode than an IO mode.  Nothing kills the fun at Sharqi like a
chopper pilot who is next to invulnerable blowing up all the players.  I think the allure of IO is that you dont have to deal with that crap anymore
but also you lose basic vehicles.  IO would be nice if it allowed the dune buggy or the smaller truck.

Yeah IO is indeed Easy Mode, well more as Medium Mode as all those nades/clays are quiet annoying. With that said I also mentioned one of the weak points of IO, which are infact nades/clays. And keep in mind that this game wasnt originally intented for IO which makes it crap because the hitboxes lag. Also, IMO it gets boring after a while and normal would allways win over IO in my book. As for example, 2 days ago I went on Ghost Town in my tank and shot down the enemy apache about 6 times, and get some 30 kills or so. Well I had alot of fun hunting down the choppers, even at one point it was chopper vs me in tank, head to head, and I won. That just gives me a warm feeling inside

I prefer seeing tanks/APCs/AA/helis/jets than just the nade-spamming bunny-hopping fool.

You can still snipe in vehicle servers. It's funner that way, watching a tank roll by your stealthy position as you focus on a ripe melon for picking. And who expects a sniper in non-IO? Not most. People even said "sucky noob sniper" when I headshotted him.

When I first started playing I whored APCs. I was on every server bombarding the shit out of everything I saw. After a while I got sick of getting randomly artyed (as much for the noise in my headset as anything) and I went to I/O a few times. Once it was within the rules and you could opt for that in your preferences, I stuck with it. I enjoy it more, it's not so damned loud all the time, and a single player can really make a difference. I got a new nick, and I only play I/O with that one.

Personal preference I suppose.

Hmmm... What's wrong with IO....  Where to begin.   (Remember, I'm play a pure AT player, always in a vehicle server, but never in a vehicle)

1.  Maps were never intended to support IO.  How many Zatar wetlands/Operation Cleansweep 64 man maps do you see IO?

2.  The sprint is almost double what it normally is to make up for this fact.  But in doing so, the bunny-hoppers can now do it twice as long.

3.  Next to no teamwork as compared to a competent infantry squad in non-IO.  The most teamwork you see is the ammo-spamming, revive spamming players who rarely fire a weapon.

4.  Claymore/grenade spammage.

5.  Just about the extinction of the engineer/spec-ops/AT kits.

6.  The in-ability to outrun that blockade set up on your uncap to cap a flag behind enemy lines to split the defense.

7.  The total dependence IO causes many of it's players, for if they happen upon a vehicle server, once they encounter a tank they (being a medic/support/sniper) have no clue how to neutralize that target.

8.  The attraction of 80% of the hackers playing the game.  (this is a good thing for me)

9.  Commanders have pertty much nothing to do.  They fight like any other player but have the ability to spam UAV wherever they are.

10.  Never needing to listen for subtle clues for what is coming.  No need to listen for that distant arty firing sound, low rumble of a tank, high pitch whine of a bomber.  Now you can just stand at a flag and wait for the granades to rain onto you.

11.  The 'average' IO player's SPM and K/D ratio is higher than a 'good' non-IO infantry player.  (making the IO players feel like they are that much better)

Now, I'm not saying vehicle servers are better, but they are what the game was originally designed for and should be played.  It's people who spawn rape in vehicles that gave those servers a bad name.  Any IO/vehicle map can become gay when the other team does nothing but kill you as soon as you spawn, but find a server that doesn't allow uncap rape that enforces it then if that's your problem.  Don't travel on roads.  Don't cap flags within arms reach of them.  Use your head and don't blame the game mode.  Blame those handful of players that make vehicle servers gay.

It sucks; it's boring, nade spam is worse than artillery, and jets are the only thing in BF2 that are unstoppable by infantry.
