Yeah - the other funny thing that sets him apart from the rest is the fact that he's not a dictator. If he goes down the route of outlawing opposition he'll be just the same as the likes of Castro or Lenin.Varegg wrote:
Guess when unlimited power is within someones grasp it comes with douchebag as a perk. Hugo Chaves has little or no opposition and that tends to go to a dictators head, just look at Saddam, Castro, Kadaffi and the other with the same occupation for a living.CameronPoe wrote:

Whats funny and prolly scary (for some) is the way he is collecting support in the rest of South America unifying the region against the global dominance of the US, finally someone is brave (or stupid) enough to challenge corporate United States of North America

Might want to mention other countries and NOT JUST the US. You know, for fairness and accuracy.
Nope, can't think of any ... who else rage against Chaves's policy to break South America loose from the grip of the US foreign policy of keeping another economic threat against them at bay ?usmarine2005 wrote:

If South America was to have the same global economic possibilities of trade as the western world that would crash US economy just like Africa and huge parts of Asia .... the very very toight Western trade agreements are dependent on keeping the "social club" as little as possible with the US having the most to loose without question. And Chaves imho is the number 1 biggest threat to an allready unstable US economy.
Or do you have another thesis on the matter ?
And don't get me wrong, i don't hate US citizens and i don't burn the Star Sprangled Banner on the weekends, i have many good friends there but i loath the US government for terrorising their population like they have done increasingly the last couple of decades.

Not quite, we get a reflected view much closer to the truth and more indept than you think obviously, we have a more open government than yours and the same applies to the news.rawls2 wrote:

Not really. All media is biased but if you think European press are fabricating anti-US stories on a continuous basis then you're having delusions. The likes of the insipid Rupert Murdoch and Silvio Berlusconi are as everpresent in our media as the former is in the US. We are just more discerning when it comes to who we listen to or what we read.rawls2 wrote:

I wont argue with that, after all we did elect W twice. However, I am the exeption.....and I still believe you are all fed anti-Us retoric. It's so popular these days, who isn't jumping on the bandwagon.CameronPoe wrote:

rawls - you practically imply it yourself. Our gripe is with the exact same person you have a gripe with: George W. Bush - NOT America.rawls2 wrote:

Americans are way more discerned than you give them credit for. Last time I checked the vast majority of the country is unhappy with both the President and Congress. There is a reason American (Print) papers are losing ground to the internet. One of them is we love variety. It hasn't always been that way, but it is definitely the trend now. In fact me posting this right now is evidence of my desire to hear the opinions of my European/Australian friends.CameronPoe wrote:

Xbone Stormsurgezz
But we have diferrent gripes. I beleive Bush failed miserably at selling the war to you guys and he let a dick head plan the war, but thats about it. IMO, the war is just. Bush bieng a moron couldn't make the world understand his reasons letting the global press run circles around him, painting him, and America, as an oil hungry warmongering evil giant. Last I checked we do pay for the oil, right?CameronPoe wrote:

But really come think of it - don't you guys have an amendment to overthrow the government if you are disgruntled ? ... that piece of paper signed by the founding fathers.
And like Cam said, we don't have an agenda with the US citizens, maybe some of them but in general we don't.
