Are pretty damn outrageous.
We've got a wave of Eastern European beggars coming to Finland.
They drive here, sleep in their cars and beg and steal in the city.

I didn't care about that too much because I don't go closer than 5m of them.
But today one of them decided to do something unspeakable.
A Polish 'student' just walked in to our house shouting 'PÄIVÄÄ!' 'PÄIVÄÄ!' (finnish for good day) and had written on a paper that she wanted money.
Not only did she just walk right in, it was also evening, not day for Christs sake! Unbeliveable...
Needles to say she was kicked out as fast as she got in.

Now tell me how much you think beggars suck on a scale of 5 to 10.

They aren't homeless, they come from eastern europe with their cars.

You know i've just been reminded of right now? A week ago when i was the city, I was getting some food from a stand when this guy in clothes nicer then mine begs the stand owner for some food, He explains how he's homeless and has'nt eaten in a week, Etc etc. And begs the guy for some food, He says no it aint his stand, Then he begs me for some of my food, I grab my change pull 2 bucks out of my pocket give him 1 dollar and he looks at me in anger that i did'nt give him the second dollar. Wtf man? Your clothes are nicer then mine, I gave you a dollar which is all i could spare(Needed 2 bucks for the subway) And now you have a problem with me being cheap? I swear some people are just assholes. Even when you show them kindness.

And about 3 months ago when i was in the city aswell. I was on east 9th and stuyvesant infront of a starbucks, When i spot this guy who looks really homeless and has a sign infornt of him that reads, Homeless vietnam vet please help. So i drop a quarter into his cup and he says thanks, As i walk by i peer into his cup and see only a few pennies and my quarter, Now this would'nt be shocking if i did'nt know that alot of people walking by me passing the guy over have alot more disposable income then me. *shrug* Yeah i guess these people are so obsessed with the poor from other countries they forget we have poor in this country too.

Yeah, it's a new thing and they are not Finns. I've never seen a Finn beg if my memory serves me right. 'Sossu' fortunately doesn't give them any money and I sure hope most people here won't either so they don't come back. Fucking thieves...

@David.P giving money to those in need is one thing, but these beggars drive here to 'earn' easy money and on top of that they steal.
The police searched a few of their cars and they recovered a pretty nice amount of phones, mp3 players and stuff like that.
We don't have such poverty that forces people to beg for food in Finland as this problem is handled by the goverment.

Do you realise how demeaning it must be to be brought to the point to begging? People want to criminalise this? Isnt it as shameful to turn your back on the needy?

If your poverty problems are all solved by your government then maybe its their fault for not having your borders or city's secured as well, so that when your neighbouring countries who are still suffering since WW2, wouldnt be coming to steal from you. The poor are just trying to eat. Put yourself in their shoes for a second, how would you do with no money, family or a society that throws shit at you?
And on top of it the polish are one of the most passive christian based nations around, far from a culture that glorifies their criminals as heroes. Sure we have trouble makers, but no more than Poland had when the vikings were raping and pillaging our land a few years back.

I cant help but take certain things personally, i am Polish and have moved to Australia. I have a 15yr old female cousin who one a week buys a packet of cigerettes to sell individual smokes to miners at lunch break, and we send packages every 3 months of supplys. This has gone on as ling as ive been alive 30 years. Believe me, we would like all of this to stop too.

This is not aimed at Poland, it's aimed at the beggars. Point being that they come here to beg from abroad.

(most of the beggars come from Romania AFAIK, this was the only Pole I've seen or heard of)

They get inside the country with ease, because they come from and EU member states.
They aren't poor in a sence that they are starving. They come here with their own cars, and they sure as hell don't look miserable. Expensive clothes etc. They are after easy income here. People aren't used to beggars here and feel sorry for them only to be abused and robbed.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't help people in need, but these beggars are nothing but scum.

Oh please. I worked over the summer at a program that helps the homeless and needy get back on their feet and secure a job. I'm not a "self richeous [sic] ignorant child". I wish that people who were homeless didn't have to live like that, but you know what? Being homeless or poor doesn't give you the right to barge into someone's house. In any civilized country, that's called breaking and entering.
