I have been looking around for a new monitor to use with BOTH my Xbox 360 and computer!  So basically I have no Idea what to look for. I know I need something With HDMI or DVI to make it easier to hook my 360 up 2 it. My budget is $300 Canadian cant go over that At all I would like it to be good enough that I can run my 360 games in 720p(which should not be a problem) and I would like it to be 20" or bigger.

                                                                                                                      Thank for your help. GR34

both those are high-quality....very nice. obviously the samsung is better...i have a samsung 19" LCD from a few years ago i still use as a secondary...the color is unbeatable (except for Dell Ultrasharp).

Widescreen takes a little getting used to, but in the end it is much better.  I switched from a 19" regular to 22" widescreen, and I must say that widescreen wins.

ok....widescreen does not fail. wanna know why? the market has spoken. there are vastly more widescreen monitors AND TV's for sale then 4:3. now thats not just a fact, its a science fact.  you cant even buy a 4:3 laptop anymore.  id be curious to hear your reasons as to why you believe 4:3 is better, cause i dont think ive ever heard a legitimate argument against widescreen.

Uh, widescreen is pretty much becoming the standard now. Have fun with your VHS, cassette tape audio, and 4:3 CRTs

Widescreen is good for video. But if you're trying to do anything productive, be it word processing or programming, you won't be anything with your bigger horizontal resolution. You basically have less lines for more money.

It can be very handy to see alot of what you're working with without scrolling. Believe me.

so you would be put off buying a wide screen because you would have to scroll more? come one man, think of better excuses. and that only really applies to 20" and under widescreen anyway. if you get bigger than that you can have like 2 wholes pages of A4 at 100%.

I bought this laptop, didn't I? And it has widescreen. But I do miss the overview I have on my 21.3" 4:3 Samsung.
Why should I have a better excuse? It's important to me.

Especially when working with code or images, having a 22"-24" widescreen monitor, monitors that frequently feature native resolutions of 1050 on the Y axis, is not always the best of solutions. Scrolling can take focus away from the code, and impression away from the image.

I love widescreen monitors for video and gaming, as long as the games are +hor and not just -vert. For coding, I prefer a high resolution LCD, or a high resolution, very high refresh rate CRT.

But as always, resolution is an individual thing.

I code a lot and design with a widescreen and to be honest, I have found no problems whatsoever.

Well, there you go. Completely individual.

In my department, we have about a 50/50 split between 4:3/5:4 and 16:9/16:10. I use 5:4 myself, as I use vi for coding and putty for network management a lot, and I need access to the text on screen so that I don't lose focus of what I'm doing, but other people do just fine on 16:10/9.

When I've got no work to do, and I want to patch into our IPTV streams, I throw it up on a 16:10 Bravia.
