Yes, as the topic says i am on the market for a laptop (a new one)...

Design and performance (for work!! no major gaming!) are important to me.. so far, all i can find that really appeals to me is this:

The HP Pavillion dv2600 Special Edition (the url is from the Danish hp site because the international one confused me https://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t178/DjurS/BF2s%20smileys/confused.png)
https://www.novatek.by/UserFiles/Image/pavilion_dv2600_se.jpg

I think it's sexy and it looks like good hardware,,

Any advice?

I like my Acer, haven't had a single problem with it, had XP drivers too.
It's a 9423WMSi, but is about a 9 months old now.

Google comes up with nothing on "9423WMSi"...

I don't like ACER because the software the PC comes with eats up half the RAM and they tend to have keyboards with a sway, which i hate.... (either sway or a misplaced delete key)

That and acer design looks cheap to me

OH i c... "9423wsmi"....

looks kinda bland doesnt it? (not to bash you in any way!! sry if it sounds like it)

True, the keyboard takes some getting used to, but it's great.

Oh, and the model is 9423WSMi. I always get that mixed up

The only thing wrong with the design is that you might want to tighten the screws a bit after a couple of months. The plastic heating and cooling all the time gets them a bit loose.

I know you said no major gaming but light gaming is going to be hard too on a 8400GS mobile
For the rest it seems really good, and sexy

It'll always be plastic

Apart from a shiny corner, the one in your post doesn't look any less like plastic. Can't judge how it feels tho.

Light gaming = TrackMania Nations / NFS U2 / C&C Generals / Tiberian sun / Red Alert 2 / HL1 + mods / etc.

Tbh all but generals will run on a intel 64mb onboard...........

At least it is shiney, painted & smooth,, not rough plastic grey surface

tbh i think it looks like aluminium... (not that it is)

A 13" screen is awfully small tho.

that thing looks awesome, and the specs are really good for an "work" laptop! I'd say: buy it!

Go develop upper body strength, buy a good LAN carry case and carry your computer around on your LANbackpack if you want a "gaming" laptop.

You'll save money and time.

The picture you're showing is the 1330... which runs great (using it right now), although I'd recommend getting video card and processor upgrades, as CoD lagged slightly on highest settings

PS: PC Specialists might be worth looking at.

I completely agree with you on the fact that gaming laptops are none-sence...

They look so much alike that you can't tell them apart from that picture.. the 1530 is the 15" version and the 1330 is the 13" version

The 1530 is brand new btw

I highly doubt a 8600GT is able to run at that res on high with ANY framerate...
