ok i have just bought a GAINWARD GEFORCE 8600GT 1G PCIE DDR2 2DH. it arrives in the mail in about 3 days.

what im wondering is if the card will run on my crappy 305 watt PSU. i have heard that Dell understates its PSU's and that i could run a 8600GT.

but im looking to the wise all knowing BF2s community for help

if i need to ill just go shopping and buy a decent 750 Watt or something.

help plz.

hmm. that's close but it MIGHT work. Not sure tho. I have no experience with dell PSUs.
Corsair 620HX PSU is the one to get if it doesn't work with the old one.....

it might just work depending on what else you have in there. Easiest would of course be to just pop the gfx card in and see ...

305 watt is most likely not enough but it might. However I have question for you, why did you get an 8600GT with 1GB of memory? No that the 8600's could even use up 256mb...

DDR2, very slow.

The box for my 8600GTS says minimum of 375W PSU. I had a cheap 500W PSU and COD4 froze a few times during game play so I reckon there wasn't enough juice coming from the PSU so I've upgraded to an OCZ 600W. Only put it in a few minutes ago so yet to test it.

I'd get a bigger PSU for sure.

Will run fine. I had a PC with 2 gigs of ram, P4 3ghz, 7900GT, 160gb HD + 2 casefans and neon tubes, all running on a 300W PSU.

yeah you don't need 750W

Wait but you have a Dell right? I hope you didnt buy the PSU yet.. they're incompatible with the motherboard from what I know.

A non-dell PSU is incompatible with a dell-motherboard (just like the CPU). AFAIK

Uhm, what? Dells don't make any changes to the processors...
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

A lot depends on the quality of the PSU as well as wattage.
