  • I have a bit to spend. I need suggestions on what to get.

Yeah, approx £180 - Could be more if I stretch.

Now, I need ideas. I am already getting a new MP3 - Samsung YP-P2.

I was thinking maybe a new mobile phone - Mine is a pile of shit ( Sagem MyX-6 )
This was my first thought Nokia 6300
I want something snazzy and easy to use. No fancy crap. I want a phone that calls and receives perfectly.

Another idea was this - I need to upgrade my processor ( I have the E6600 which is not the b0 batch, i.e faulty and not very good ).
I was thinking of C2D E6750 and 2GB more of OCZ ram.

My other idea was grabbing these earphones - d-Jays Micro Armature and some MP3 accessories.

Any other ideas? I got a 360 and I was maybe thinking of Assasins Creed.

What are your suggestions?

Get a quad core processor. Definelty the best choice at the moment.

I don't come here a lot anymore.

Go for the phone. The Nokia 6300 has the sharpest display I've ever seen on any device, mobile or stationary. It's durable and good too.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I don't really need a Quad Core. Nor do I need to spend an extra £50 on one. A quad core is for very serious gamers who want to play ever single new game. I don't and I don't care. I need a more powerful processor because I run PS, DW, AI and Opera at the same time, while working with Adobe Photoshop Elements. So I need something that can cope and my current one can't.

Yep I know they're not necessary now but they will be and when you are upgrading its better too buy one now instead of having to get one again down the line. Oh and very few games actually use quad core at the moment. Its only now that games are being designed to run better on them.

It sounds like a quad core would be a good thing to cope with all of that at the same time but if you dont want to spend the extra money its your choice. Why do you have to run all those things at once its nice to be able to but i just dont think its necessary. More ram will probably help more than a bigger cpu thats still dual core but im no expert.

I have to because it's my work. I need to have them all running and switch from one to the other doing several things.
Yes. I can multi task.

I suppose I could help in here for once, seeing as how I actually know what I'm talking about in regards to Phones and Assassins Creed.

Just completed AC 2 hours ago. Great game, really was a good, fresh storyline as well as overall fun thing to do. Free running, fist fights, trampling innocent civilians on a Horse, fighting off 20 guards that cornered you as well as using various means to kill your targets.

You seem pretty set on that make of phone, if you want a few more options I'll look up some models and prices for you. Though I'm bias to Sony Ericsson, because they rock.

No, please. I want phone suggestions. Preferably Pay as You Go. I am not going for that phone, I just think it looks good. I also know that Nokia make excellent phones, as do Sony Ericsson.

Multi-tasking has become more important in computers but if you want a dual core then go for it. I'm not saying they're useless or anything (I have an E6550) but its always worth spending a bit more to ensure it won't need replacing for quite a while !

in-ear headphones are great quality, but they start to get annoying after 5-ish minutes. bose does make some good products for sure, but not those.

and fyi...quad-core is more for the multi-tasker, like you, then the gamer. as there are no games that even use dual-core to its full extent yet. but, dont buy a processor. the 6600 will hold out at least untill febuary-ish, as bell said.

I'll just suggest this, because I've got it myself and it's just in your range. It does everything phone will be able to do in 3 years. It's feature future proof. I really can't fault it, it looks great, camera takes great pictures, it does everything.

I had this before, this phone will do what you want(Call people and text). Pretty much the same as the Nokia 6300, just another option. Same price as well. I just think it looks a bit more sexier.

You can go even cheaper if alls that you want is just to ring people, you can get a new phone for something like £30. Take back your old one and you get £10 knocked off.

Not if you get good ones. The d-Jays are some of the best available. I would go for Shure, but you can't get decent Shure ones for below £200.
