Buy a new machine........

(In all honesty, it's not worth your time or more importantly your money upgrading that...)

If that isnt an option, I take it its an AGP motherboard?  Get an x1950pro video card, and another GIG of RAM

He's right, the motherboard will probably not let you upgrade enough to do much use for next gen

Why get a new machine? An extra gig of ram and an X1950 pro would do him nicely for another year or so. It's not worth your time forking out for a whole new machine.

You could get something really nice for £500 though.

Well all I'm looking for is something decent so I can play my games not on the lowest graphic settings without lagging ...

Not sure about price range though, if something is decent enough, I will try and buy it

^^

You could stick an aftermarket CPU cooler on that and easily clock it to 3.00Ghz and it's one of the best bang for buck CPU's out there.

I'll probably be buying what I chose around Jan/Feb, things'll probably be even cheaper by then.

I would agree, usually, but, for anyone who wants to upgrade now, that spec up there doesnt allow much for an upgrade.  He will be back on withing six months saying he needs yet more upgrades and considering, a new gpu, RAM and possibly CPU could burn him £300ish, might as well double that and get a nice new gaming machine.

Less you really wanted it for christmas, I would wait till late january.

@ OP  Will you be building it yourself?

Ok, I wont spend that much unless I buy a new PC ... how much would a x1950 PRO + 1GB extra of RAM cost me?

@Bell: No, am not building, I'm 15, and pretty dumb when it comes to Tech

Built my first when I was 16!  It seems more difficult than it actually is, but even if you cant build it, I am sure you will find a shop near you who will put it together, for a small labour charge.

x1950s are about £100 right now, and the RAM, well, you need to find out specifically what type you have atm to match it up.
