I used to like Green Day, when I was into the punk scene - which, to me, included NOFx, The Offspring, Green Day and Blink 182. About 5 years ago, when I was 13... Now it's just not good enough for me, because it's sort of boring compared to the bands I listen to, such as Dream Theater, Symphony X and Liquid Tension Experiment. To be honest, progressive music has probably ruined a lot of music for me, because everything's repetitive for me now.

Grow up!          Jazz is music for real men.
Crap is Country+Rap, punk is ok. the real music is in Hardcore and grunge. Shit like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Genghis Tron, and Dillenger Escape Plan.
Oh i thought crap was a synonym for this https://s.no-ip.ca/i.php/s/shit.gif

Beat me to it.

Green Day sold out. They used to be decent pop-punk back in the 90s but now have changed to mainstream scene-o punk talentless music.

I kept mostly to myself - I was sort of an emo kid, living out his depression about his parents' divorce and having had to move to a different country with my mom. Didn't cut myself though... I was a stupid, ignorant, self centered brat, who felt like he was always the victim.
I'm more into metal/progressive or jazz now - the music that requires talent to play.

I have mixed feelings about all this. I enjoy what many of you would like to deem as punk music, although, technically, at this point in time I think it's all defined as post-hardcore, or something similar. I enjoy most punk all the way since the bands that started the scene in the 70's. The supposed popular punk bands of Good Charlotte and FOB are nothing more than cookie cutter bands meant to make money, no better than Britney Spears.

Some of my favorites, which include, but are definitely not limited to:

Bouncing Souls
Hot Water Music
Op Ivy
Suicide Machines
Rancid
Osker
NOFX
Dropkick Murphys (although oddly enough, they have gained in popularity significantly, hopefully that won't change them for the worse)
Refused
Against Me!

I have an argument for those that think punk music is not complex. Two examples: Hot Water Music and Refused. HWM has very tight and well constructed songs. Every member of the band is very talented to the point where not many can match the skill of the drummer and bassist. Refused is a bit of a mesh between hardcore punk, techno, and metal. They have consistently complex songs where all band members really show off their skill.

However, my musical taste has expanded quite a bit over the years, and as such, I actually prefer Ska music to punk. There is a bit more depth in the song construction overall. These bands are impressive to see live, as they will usually knock your socks off. A few bands of note (First wave through Third wave):
The Skatalites
Reel Big Fish
Streetlight Manifesto
The Slackers
The Specials
The Toasters
Westbound Train

Keep in mind that I also listen to anything I deem as good, which basically means I only listen to the good bands (people) out of each genre. Couple examples:
Explosions in the Sky
Pink Floyd
Ben Folds
Coldplay
Aphex Twin
Boards of Canada
Ace Enders
Something Corporate (also Jack's Mannequin)
The Strokes
Miles Davis/John Coultrane

I suppose I just wanted to show that not all punk is the same talentless drone. There are quite a few bands that really have some pretty talented members. It may not be what you like, but that doesn't mean it's shit. Hell, I can't stand that shit you call rock music, but do I say it sucks, no. There is a subtle difference, but it's there. As I've seen throughout this thread, everybody likes something different. So to all you intolerant people, I say: Fuck off and grow up.

Sorry for the extended list, but that just scratches the surface.

Yes, don't care for their stuff.  Throwing politics in their songs to sell records was lame.

I despise that song. Ruined a perfectly good Seinfeld finale. But, I do hate the band. And I was not happy when my classic rock station briefly played that song, and even more furious when it was placed in the top ten classic rock songs of all-time. That changed, and I'm guessing it had to do with complaining fans such as myself.

We can't all love the same taste of music. As for example I hate rap. I think Rap should burn in hell, all they do is sing about money, drugs and ''bitches''. Wow! Thats the way to go.

No they don't. Mainstream rap might be mostly about that kind of crap, but like every genre, rap has talentless morons raping it. Much like metal, you have Slipknot, Trivium and other faggot bands taking a huge steamer on talented metal bands.
