Just caught the tail end of the conversation on ESPN.

Michael Vick, once one of the highest paid players in the National Football League, was sentenced to 23 months in prison for financing a dogfighting ring and helping to kill pit bulls that did not fight aggressively.

Horse fighting is legal in Korea. That would have been a cooler offence to go down for.

Call me a hippy, tree-hugger, which is far from the truth, but animal beating is retarded. I had a battle that lasted over 20 minutes last night removing a possum from my garage. I won but the bugger took a few direct hits with a baseball bat. I felt sorry for the little guy, but he wasn't invited to stay the night. The problem with possums is that they tend to play dead when attacked, so it was a challenge to get him to move out,on his own.

Vick had and will learn a very costly lesson, unfortunately he will get out early for good behavior, I assume.

He's a retard. If he really loved barbarism so much he could have flown to Panama every weekend on a private jet: it's legal over there.

Actually, I heard on the news this weekend that they're all going to rescues.

I'm happy. Although his punishment should have been greater.

Rescues, not the pound. No-kill rescues.

Good riddance; as someone else said though, he'll probably get out a bit earlier for "good behavior." I notice a trend in celebrities usually getting lighter sentences than their "not as important" counterparts. Such as, oh I don't know, Paris Hilton bitching about her sentence until it was shortened.

He still waits sentencing from Virginia's state courts though. Any extra time is fine by me.

edit: What FEOS said. If they're decent at all they'll send them to reputable rescues.
