I know they exist....

.....but I can't find any shops that sell them.

Super Talent make some ([url]http://www.supertalent.com/products/ssd.php[url]) - but I can only find the 2.5" models anywhere.
If anyone knows of a shop selling decent capacity 3.5" SSD drives, can you let me know?

What is your definition of decent capacity, I would assume you understand you are going to have to pay though the nose for one of these right now?

64GB+

(Though 32GB would probably do)

I'm prepared to pay upto about £300 - I can get 64GB 2.5" drives for around £450 - I'm anticipating that 3.5" versions will be cheaper, but I have yet to see any prices.

looks like your best bet is 2.5 since the supply is greater.  There will be limited supply of the 3.5 since they won't work in laptops and that is the primary focus of the product.  Your best bet would be picking up a 2.5 and putting it where you would normally mount a floppy.

Looks like an arm and a leg at best.  I would wait a year unless you have a serious need for a mobil computer.  You could go with a 10K drive or maybe an inexpensive SAS  control and Drive.

I have no interest whatsoever in any of those options.

At the moment I've got a pretty decent storage solution (but it's only on short term loan ). I've got a XServe RAID setup hooked up through a fibre channel (don't worry I didn't pay for it). But an SSD disk should hammer the access times I get off that.

Just saw an ad in MaximumPC:

Not sure if that's what you're looking for.
