I have a 3.0GHz quad core, and truthfully I don't notice any difference to my old opty 170 (dual core AMD) @ 3.0 or @ 2.7 (depending on overclock) on games.

You should've given up when he showd the screenshot. It's a god damn Dell! Dells are made to remain unchanged for their whole life.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. Don't overclock until you have a decent air/water cooling system set up on your cpu and a good enough PSU.
