i'm considering going to get one shortly and transferring my number from verizon to att. should i do it? i need a new ipod anyway, and i'd rather get the 8gb iphone for $100 more than the 8gb itouch. also, verizon sucks balls, and i have been looking for a reason to switch. thoughts?

Yes, of course, it has long been the best phone ever, but it costs more. Going for like N70 or N73 or N80 is the best choice if you don't want to spend lots of money on features you won't use.

what is the music interface like for these nokias? i like the simplicity of itunes/ipod, and i dont really want to mess with some other shitty program/phone

Would definetely recommend the iPhone over the N95 any day. You can scream "5mpix cam" and "gps" all you want, but the fact is: look at it! It is grotesque, bulky and hardly what I'd call stylish. The iPhone really is the best of both worlds in my opinion. Having used one personally and considering I am about to get one, I will of course be praising it. It's absolutely gorgeous and so easy to use. Having used both, I much prefer the iPhone.
Go for it and I guarantee you will not regret it one bit. Guaranteed! Also, you can do a quick jailbreak and use it on any network.
Also, before you all yell iPhone doesn't have GPS some guys are working on it for a very cheap price now that simply plugs into the bottom very easily and plans on being the same black as the iPhone.
