I'm really drunk right now, and I can tell you guys, anonymously that I get drunk because I'm depressed.
Does anyone else feel the same way or have anything to say?
I'm seriously concerned about myself and other in this situation because I understand the depression...
anyway... yeah.

Get drunk with your friends and then talk to them about what's on your mind. It's what I've done before and it was great. And even though I was so outrageously drunk and didn't remember much, I still mentioned it the following morning and we talked some more.

Just don't get drunk alone very often, that's the sign of a true alcoholic

Well I can tell you that alcohol is pretty much the worst thing you can do to yourself if you suffer from depression. My advice would be to lay off it for a month or two and try and sort out your issues, you're only perpetuating the downward spiral by drinking alcohol - a depressant. For the record I suffered from clinical depression but I am now clear of it.

Throw away the crutch of alcohol, and make self-betterment/improvement the thing you do when you're feeling depressed.  Anything to improve your life, no matter small or irrelevent to your problems, can make a difference, and once you make a habit of it you'll start seeing more and more improvement.  Drinking a bottle of vodka will only make you more depressed and will eat your money, but doing something to improve your lot...even something like cleaning your desk or doing your laundry...that won't make you more depressed (one less thing to do) and won't cost you a cent.

Also, if you've got big problems on your mind, try the "divide and conquer" and "5 whys" approaches.

for a drunk, you type really well.
i would have passed out on the kb by now.

alcohol is not a good mask for depression, it makes you sink even deeper. go talk to someone close when you feel this way. or try to understand your depression. not an easy task but one that is better than getting wasted.

I gotta say the one thing that motivated me was getting up right at the break of dawn, opening the curtains and getting full sun in my room. I don't know if you sleep in late, but I sleep in late, and I've found that if I just pull myself out of bed and get a nice doze of sun that kinda wakes me up, and cheers me up.

AND when your going to bed at night, think about all the things you'd really like to get accomplished the next day, or the following week. Just lay there and picture yourself doing the things you want completed.  That usually gets ya ready for the next day.

Exercise in the morning really helps. Even if you think your so lazy you cant exercise. Just throwing punches left and right, knee kicks, jumping jacks, push-ups and sit ups is all you need to get your heart going and blood pumping when out of bed. Take a glass of water to bed with you, so in the morning the second you wake up, drink some water. Get your mouth washed out like that. It refreshes you a little bit also.

I could probably go on with a few things, let me know if what I said helps at all.

Talk to someone... and get help... Life is great but when your depressed you think it isnt and that nothing is fun and you slowly sink into a crappy place where you arent happy and you arent sad... you feel numb...(been through it myself)
You would be suprised how many people go through depression and get help and get back to enjoying things in their life... good luck dude...

Make sure you are suffering from depression and your not bi-polar. Two very different things but you tend to focus more on the depression side of things, which makes it hard to determine. Treatment for the two is not the same.

And lay off the alcomohol. Everything about it is bad. Do a sort of lent thing (even if your not christian) and set a time period for which you won't drink. Then see how you feel at the end.

Talking to others about it also really useful. Drunk or otherwise.

Get a good night's sleep, so that you have some energy during the day. Lay off alcohol, and any other sort of drugs. Keep some friends around you who can make you happy, and talk to them about what depresses you.

Why? Because the Ducks suck balls?
Seriously though, I sometimes feel depressed when I'm drunk even when I wasn't when I started. Just be around your friends tomorrow as already stated.

^^^^ What he said.

Alcohol is a CNS depressant.  At first you might think it's helping but it's only making thinkgs worse.

I to have a history of clinical depression.

alcohol and marijuana is good for parties and having fun...
but taking drugs - and alcohol is a drug - to fight depressions is the worst thing to do. get your focus on good things in life and set achievable goals to get back on track
