I have the orange, green and black cable from my Xfi sound card to the connectors on the speakers.

Nothing in digital or optical

Is that why it sounds pretty med-core?

You know the red/white/yellow cables that are used alot of TV?  You're going to need one of those wires.  In fact, if I remember right I just used one of them instead of buying a new coax cable.

And wtf are you hooking up?  Optical will only work if you have a fiber cable laying around, and the coax is the other digital connection.

Glowing red  =  fiber not coax.  That will only work if you have one of those connections on both the card AND the speakers.

(What speakers and soundcard do you have, I'll get you a link to the cable you want).

I have my mic going into that red glowing port on back of sound card...

so would this do it?

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Mod … ;doy=18m12

Nevermind someone asked on that product

"can i use this to convert from a 3.5 digital output port on a PC sound card to a coaxal ouput then run a cord from that to my surround sound? and will it carry 5.1 surround sound if that is what the digital port is putting out? - Derek"

Answer was no.

From looking at the connections, I don't see either a fiber or CoaX connection on the back of the X-Fi XG.  But you might have a different model, so I'll take your word and assume that there's a digi fiber connection back there.

And reading reviews on those speakers, there is a matching connection back there.  Assuming both have the optical connection, all you need is an optical cable...  Bottom one here  ((shop around they're cheaper than that))

ALthough I'm not sure you have that connection on EITHER the speakers or the card.  Glowing red, did it have a little black cap on it?

Page 2 on this topic a few people were discussing what connector's etc. Can you have a wee look and see if its Coax or Fiber.
