I would drop the 780i...far to expensive on what you get. Also, you might consider getting the GT rather than the GTS, which will save you ~£50.

I think its because all the computer parts are shipped from some country to the US and the US sells it to all other countries like a middle man

New quads are delayed. Blame AMD. Sorry.

780i is not completely compatible with the new QX9650 Intel Penryn CPUs.

But 780i is capable of full 3-way SLI (16x/16x/16x). 680i last revision 3-way SLI is 8x on the last SLI-card (16x/16x/8x). 3-way is real scalable performance. Unlike the quad-SLI Nvidia-goof.

I don't know but for me the (X-FI) sound card is almost always a waste. I never really use it (to its full advantage); and can't really tell the difference (from the onboard sound card; sounds the same to me - and it takes up a slot!!!).

When you take into factors like Salary/Tax etc.. you'll find out that it's all pretty proportional. What seems like dirt cheap to us, is actually expensive for most people in the US.

Also,

Ditch the 780i unless you really want SLI (get an X38 motherboard instead, cheaper and better compatibility and probably all round better)
Get a 8800GT to save abit more cash
Get a bigger normal hard drive instead of a 150GB Raptor one, to save abit more cash or get more out of your money

That's what I'd do

Two main reasons imo.  Newegg buys in MUCH bigger bulk than just about any other outlet, (more so than any in the UK anyways), and also, theres simply far less tax in the states than the UK.

Getting better tho

For me, 150GB would not be enough.  You'd be surprised how quickly an HD can fill up.  I like to have a lot of games installed at once and such.  I'd recommend a 250GB minimum.

No 780i in newegg list, add about $270. Still a rip off though.
