Media Player Classic (the best one, probably), BSPlayer Pro, ZoomPlayer.

Make sure to use one that utilises filtering add ons properly. ffdshow is absolutely essential - which is why VLC is not so great, it doesn't make good use of extra filters.

TBH, i'd prefer to be able to use WMP, just makes everything nice and easy for me. So i'm trying to find a good MPEG4-AVI converter, but no luck so far.

Mplayer and VLC -- between the two there's hardly anything I can't play (exceptions are DRM video files like some .mov and .wmv files -- but who wastes time on DRM'ed shit anyway?)
