What exactly is the role of the Pope anyway. What's he got to do with Jesus?
He sits at the head of one of the most fantastically rich institutions in the world, created by the Romans to exercise political control over the developed world. These days they mainly focus on being hypocritical and irrational.

If you witness it, you will not laugh.  That I promise you.
Exorcism is like a fancy way of explaining psychiatry.  There are no demons or things of that sort.  There are merely chemical imbalances in the brain, which can lead to extreme reactions.  Mental illness is, indeed, a scary thing.

Still, it is not religion that cures the sick mind, it is a combination of will and medication.  Now, the trick here is...  if the person being "exorcised" is religious him/herself and still has his/her wits about them, then it is possible to convince the person that his/her condition will be healed by faith.  Usually, this is only a temporary solution to chemical imbalances I mentioned.  Medication is usually required to augment the willpower necessary to subdue a condition.

In the end, however, it can all be attributed to neurochemical imbalance, NOT demons.
I understand that mental illnesses used to be attributed to demon possession long ago.  Modern psychiatry has done wonders to help those who suffer from chemical imbalances.  What I am speaking of is completely different.  Demons do exist, as does the rest of the spirit world.  Whether you choose to acknowledge it is your decision.

If you can prove they exist, be my guest.  Until then, you really can't expect me to believe you.

I understand.  If I was not a person who believed in the spirit world and had not witnessed anything that led me to believe they exist, I would not believe it either.  If I had a video camera with me during my experience 10 years ago, you would.

*nods*  Well, I'm glad we can agree on the skepticism thing.  If you don't mind my asking, what happened?  I promise not to be judgmental -- I'll just listen.

Thanks for the material.  You're not the only person I know who's had these kind of experiences.  I've always been a skeptic of the paranormal, but for that reason, I try to investigate whatever I can find.

The funny thing is...  As much as I'd like to see proof of these things, it's almost as if this kind of stuff purposefully eludes me.  In other words, I'd happily join you in belief of things if I could experience them, but for whatever reason, they never happen to skeptics like myself.

Secondly, while I still recognize that these experiences are anything but pleasant, I've always wanted these things to actually exist because it would make life a lot more interesting.  So far, I have yet to find any personal reason to believe in them, however.
